Seriously, isn't that a spectacular photo? Amazingly, they have never played together, a fusionatics wet-dream. Two men who created their own sound, style and following. I get chills just thinking about the possibilities.

 

What Fusion band did both play in, but not at the same time?

(too friggin' easy..)  The winner gets two hours of spanking by Gdub411 at his favorite leather bar.

Hey Danbo - that's an amazing coincidence.

I was looking for some artwork for a burn earlier today and came across the very same picture on Google (apparently photo taken by Gary Husband)!!! Drop Jonas Hellborg's name into the search engine and take a gander at those double necked bass guitars - nice.

Nope, haven't seen that Dick... but I did get get a chance to see some of the footage of David playing that Miller Strat Pack a couple of weeks ago at Wembley.. I'm still kicking myself I couldn't be there... Darn, he played "Coming Back to Life"... and "Marooned" was just excellent....

I remember that - I believe it was at one of the 'Secret Policeman's Ball' charity gigs (late '80's sometime); as far as I remember it, they did an acoustic duet of 'Won't get fooled again'

You've got it Jim. I think Channel 4 either had rights to film The Secret Policeman's Ball (or was it The Secret Policeman's Other Ball - one of those Amnesty International Charity gigs), or licensed and showed somebody else's  videos  - if I remember the second Secret Police was split into two LPs and videos: The Comedy and The Music.

I believe two Who numbers were done unplugged - Pinball Wizard and the one you stated????? Also notable at the second gig (?) was a rare duo performance of Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck (you can go to Antonioni's Blow-up for the Beck/Page  (i.e the other Yardbirds alumni duo)).

Beware: over summer I thought I had found the DVD of the music from all the 80's Secret Policeman's gigs - got it home and it was 90's special in the style of The Tube programme, and alas with Jules Holland comparing. Now the DVD is about to become  a give away on my radio show - Jules Holland never struck me as natural TV presenter.
