Appearing in the mid-2010s, Occulta Veritas is the one-man post-black metal side project of Turin-based Italian musician Daniele Vergine, guitarist of Noise Trail Immersion. Vergine's early sound, shaped between 2014 and 2017, took inspiration from metallic hardcore bands Converge, the Secret and Cursed, demonstrating an instrumental blackened post-metal/mathcore a la Sannhet on 2017's self-released debut album The Inner Wail.
By 2024's Jacques Lacan-influenced Irreducible Fear of the Sublime (released on I, Voidhanger Records), Vergine shifted to an overtly progressive black metal style while still retaining some hardcore elements, introducing harsh vocals delivering lyrics in English. The album featured guest basswork from Gabriele Ponziano of blackened grindcore group O, exhibiting a more dynamic, melodic and less oppressively dense style than Vergine's primary band, ultimately sounding similar to Altar of Plagues or Gabriele Gramaglia's defunct project the Clearing Path. "The Inner Wail" (2017) "Irreducible Fear of the Sublime" (2024)
