Probably my two favorite instrumental Genesis tracks (from the PG era anyway).

I have one or two fairly, I think, interesting anecdotes, this is not one of them, and yet I will share again. Hearing "Hairless Heart" playing in the bar of a playhouse without knowing what it was led to a search for the music. I finally found it years later when searching the internet. I feel that that search in significant part led to my greater interest in Prog, which in turn med to me joining this Prog online community. "Hairless Heart" is my choice.

It's weird. On paper, I should like "After the Ordeal" more. But in context, I always enjoy "Hairless Heart" more. Edited by Epignosis - April 24 2024 at 07:45 |

After the Ordeal is obviously the better of these two. In my view, Hairless Heart is rather a section of something bigger than a track on its own.

After the ordeal, I blended into the scrap metal recycling center by pretending to be a pile of leaves.

Hairless Heart is more memorable to my ears. Neither are necessarily the most memorable Genesis tracks, though, IMO.

Both equally. I suppose I probably used to like After the Ordeal better but overall I think it's too close to call so both for me.

I went with "Neither," because, even though I love Genesis and Selling England's my favorite by them, these tracks doesn't do much. I was listening to interviews recently, and a couple of members (I think it was Hackett and Rutherford?) expressed the wish that they hadn't put After the Ordeal on that album.

I chose After the Ordeal because it creates its own little universe in its brief timespan, while Hairless Heart is just a between-song interlude.

I like both but i find hairless heart such a heart wrenching little tune that i have to go with that. The whole of the Lamb.. album i find very emotionally moving for personal reasons.

After The Ordeal is quintessential prog in 4 minutes, while Heart sounds like elevator music on steroids Vote the former
