Good for you, I absolutely support people in all their varied iterations. I never really understood the bigots who loose their 5h!t over stuff like this. What possible difference in their lives can someone else's sexuality be?

But for my part...A Very Happy Holiday to ya. Party

I do have a question though. how are you with trans humour?

EDIT
Just saw this so let ask, how, in your estimation, are people supposed to react to all the recent pronoun stuff?

My eldest is trans.

I'm sure to offend someone, and maybe confuse some, but here's a trans joke.

*

But seriously, even if Duchamp is okay with much trans humour (as my eldest is), one should try not be reasonably sensitive to other trans people who visit here (derogatory humour towards many groups/ identities/ affiliations is not allowed and discouraged. Bigotry is not permitted). And one should be careful when asking someone who has identified a certain way if they are okay with jokes about such groups/ people. For instance, as a silly first contact example, you are drinking on your patio, a flying saucer lands in your yard, an alien walks out and up to you and says, "Greetings from Uranus to the people of Planet Earth." And you ask it if it is okay with jokes about Uranus...

* note that I actually never have heard that Transatlantic release and have no actual opinion of it.

1. define trans humor. like jokes about trans people are fine as long as there isn't any bigotry motivating them, but if you're just spewing rhetoric against trans people under the facade of a joke, that's where i draw the line.

2. if you accidentally misgender someone thats fine, you can correct that by apologizing quickly n moving on. its INTENTIONALLY misgendering someone thats wack af

Logan beat me to the punch.
My humour would be to say something along the lines of favourite song or band being by Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Seems gentle or tame to me, by my understanding, others might not think so.
Everyone has their own sensitivity levels to be sure.

Re: attached article.
My feeling is that there's not nearly enough education on the pronoun/self identifying language in our society. Maybe because of gutless politicians or extremists in positions that prevent it from happening or demonize the very thought of acknowledging it.
Either way, both sides need to show some sense of tolerance, even though our society seems sadly lacking in that area.

EDIT
Oh BTW, I used the term 'sexuality' very loosely here. Just as a general catch all. There are so many more layers to people than anything to do with sex.

One of my best former students came by to visit the other day, apparently Cullen is going through a gender change, I wasn't real surprised. Cullen is one of the smartest people I have ever met, definitely a genius, 160+ IQ probably, and also the type of person to take the road less traveled.

Sorry for derailing the thread further but the song fit the picture.

I support LGBTQ rights.

Wishing everyone a Happy new year!

Much love to the trans community in these bizarre times, further triumphs and all rights still forthcoming.

Trans rights now and forever, baby Thumbs Up Transitioning was the best decision I've made in my life, although I do have the privilege of living in a very tolerant environment regarding the matter. I've been on hormone replacement therapy for over two years now and ever since then I have felt free from the crippling shame, self-disgust and despondence that had plagued me as far back as I can remember before that time.

I've met many decent trans people. So, no prejudices for my part on this matter.

The "problem" I see in this respect is... There are many attention whore trans celebrities, and lots of people think that it is the usual way/demeanour of the trans people. At least in my country (Turkey), trans people are having many problems. Yet, if a trans person can express himself/herself (or themselves) well, you know deadpaning and stuff they are generally confronted with understanding, or even respect & compassion, even in a country like mine.

Beyond all of this, I don't even wonder if a person that I meet is a trans or not. People generally feel comfortable with saying that to me, as I can say. And I always respond like, "It doesn't make any difference to me..." and stuff, i.e., what I actually think (and how I genuinely feel).

Trans rights... Hmm, it is quite a problematic issue in my country. Yet, I'm not really that knowledgeable about this. I can only talk about what I learn from the social media. And sadly, I see negative things more often than not.

Judging by this article I'm not seeing anything wrong with the treatment the kid received in this particular case. I think a level of caution, along with a thorough but respectful psychological evaluation to see if HRT is the best solution for the patient, is appropriate when it comes to dealing with people under 18 but I absolutely believe HRT should ultimately remain available for these people as well. The reversibility of things like puberty blockers is under intense debate at the moment and seems to vary from patient to patient, but the people having this debate seem to overlook that the bodily changes brought on puberty are also irreversible and are tantamount to scars for many transgender people (of whom only a tiny minority ends up detransitioning permanently).
