Pick your top ten favorite Zappa/Mothers albums and then list your favorite song from each album. Live albums are okay.
One Size Fits All - Inca Roads The Grand Wazoo - The Grand Wazoo Roxy & Elsewhere - Pygmy Twilight Over-Nite Sensation - Zomby Woof Joe's Garage - Wet T-Shirt Night Bongo Fury - Carolina Hard-Core Ecstasy The Best Band You Never Heard In Your Life - Heavy Duty Judy Sheik Yerbouti - City of Tiny Lights Zoot Allures - Black Napkins Zappa Meets the Mothers of Prevention - Alien Orifice |

See, this is an artist where it actually makes sense to do 10 albums.
Anyway, 1. One Size Fits All - Inca Roads 2. Studio Tan - The Adventures of Greggery Peccary 3. Orchestral Favorites - Pedro's Dowry 4. You Are What You Is - Beauty Knows No Pain 5. Joe's Garage Acts II & III - He Used To Cut The Grass (yes it's better than Watermelon) 6. Zappa In New York - I Promise Not To Come In Your Mouth/Läther 7. Waka/Jawaka - Big Swifty 8. Roxy & Elsewhere - Echidna's Arf (Of You) 9. Ship Arriving Too Late To Save A Drowning Witch - Drowning Witch 10. Apostrophe (') - Yellow Snow Suite I guess, I mean, it changes from week to week honestly. Kinda interesting how neither of us so far have a 60's Zappa album in there.

^I like the compositions on the 60s albums, but not the production or pitched up horns so much. It certainly has grown on me though. Overall, I prefer later takes with different line-ups of the older material.

I prefer Mothers-era + instrumental jazzrock-Zappa. Not so much the (mostly) unfunny jokes-Zappa. Although he probably wouldn't approve of my preferences, I like him the best when he created something (achingly) beautiful. 1 Waka/Jawaka - Big Swifty 2 The Grand Wazoo - Blessed Relief* 3 Hot Rats - Peaches En Regalia 4 Burnt Weeny Sandwich - The Little House I Used to Live In 5 We're Only In It For The Money - Absolutely Free 6 Absolutely Free - Invocation and Ritual Dance of the Young Pumpkin 7 One Size Fits All - Inca Roads 9 Apostrophe (') - Cosmik Debris 10 Freak Out! - Who Are The Brain Police *but it didn't feel right leaving out Eat That Question

I don't know (much less like) ten Frank Zappa albums. Don't even think I could come up with ten songs:
1. "The Torture Never Stops" 2. "Lumpy Gravy" 3. "Blessed Relief" 4. "Black Napkins" 5. "Peaches in Regalia" 6. "Inca Roads" 7. "Montana" 8. "Joe's Garage" Nope. |
