I've got some odd responses in the past about this, maybe others are in the same boat.
Fav albums that aren't in the usual top three picked by fans. I've only got a few though Jethro Tull - Songs from the Wood Genesis - W & W Dream Theater - Dream & Day |

Genesis - A trick of the tail
Yes - Relayer ELP - same Not sure if those count. Maybe not. Relayer is usually at least number four behind the Bruford/Howe albums though (not counting ABWH of course ![]() For KC my favorite is LTIA but that usually squeezes in at number 3 behind Court and Red. What's your number one now? For a long time my number one was SEBTP but now it's either 2 or 3 (depending on where I want to put in W&W).

Yeah, BG is really underrated these days and one of their best post 1980 albums imo. Then again part of it for me could be sentimental reasons because I went to a Yes convention in 1987 just before it was released and saw them twice on this tour which was the first time I ever saw them live.

but that album is the big fan-favorite. Their most highly rated/regarded, most sold etc... Anyway, these are the ones I can think of right now: Jethro Tull - Benefit ELO - Time Weather Report - St Vangelis - The Dragon Steely Dan - Countdown To Ecstasy Captain Beefheart - Clear Spot Magma - KobaïaHerbie Hancock - Crossings Woven Hand - Consider the Birds Terje Rypdal - St Pentangle - Cruel Sister The Residents - Mark of the Mole Pink Floyd - Meddle (not all that unusual) Genesis - Nursery Cryme (same)

Cool thread!
My top three albums of all-time are The Lamb, Magma's MDK, and Humunculus Res' debut, so, I definitely can commiserate with the OP. Also, my fave Yes is Relayer, H to He for VDGG, Free Hand for GG, Novella for Renaissance, Epilog for Änglagård, Animals for Floyd, and Fear of a Blank Planet for PR/SW. |

Soon Over Babaluma isn't most people's favourite Can album. Discipline isn't most people's favourite King Crimson album. Ummagumma isn't most people's favourite Pink Floyd album. Live (1973) isn't most people's favourite Genesis album. Shamal isn't most people's favourite Gong album. Camera Camera for sure isn't most people's favourite Renaissance album; honestly I'm not even sure it's mine but certainly top 3 at least, which is unusual enough. Relayer on the other hand has many fans, I wouldn't list it here. Edited by Lewian - October 30 2022 at 18:06 |

Jethro Tull's Stand Up is my favorite record of all time. It was the first progressive record I ever bought when I was 14, back in 1972, so it has quite a sentimental value for me.

Some of the albums you listed have many fans too. Relayer is not a top 3 Yes album and sometimes not even top 4. Sales have nothing to do with this. If someone said 90125 was their favorite Yes album that would most certainly be unusual(at least on here or any other prog site) even though it's apparently their biggest selling album.
