The Rocky Horror Picture Prog Show

   Recently I've been playing The Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack a lot, and I loved this campy comedy film.  Various cast members have been used for different musical performances. Tim Curry is Frank-N-Furter to me, but I think quite a few would be interesting in that role.

I started thinking about which singers in Prog would (or would have at a different age) have been interesting or funny in roles for the film.  If going rather outside Prog, I think Bowie might have made a very good Frank-N- Furter (think Labyrinth), and Phil Collins with his acting experience could fit in somewhere 

This is the film cast:

- Tim Curry as Dr. Frank-N-Furter, an eccentric transvestite scientist
- Susan Sarandon as Janet Weiss, a heroine, Brad’s Fiancée
- Barry Bostwick as Brad Majors, a hero, Janet’s Fiancé
- Richard O'Brien as Riff-Raff, a hunch-backed handyman, Magenta’s brother
- Patricia Quinn as Magenta, a domestic, Riff Raff’s sister
- Nell Campbell (credited as Little Nell) as Columbia, a groupie
- Jonathan Adams as Dr. Everett V. Scott, a rival scientist
- Peter Hinwood as Rocky Horror, a creation (Trevor White as singing voice)
- Meat Loaf as Eddie, an ex-delivery boy
- Charles Gray as the Criminologist, an expert
- Jeremy Newson as Ralph Hapschatt
- Hilary Farr (credited as Hilary Labow) as Betty Munroe

This is Just for Fun, so feel free to have some fun with it.

I'll say (not necessarily dependent on the current age of the singer):

- Geddy Lee as Dr. Frank-N-Furter
- James LaBrie as Eddie
- Phil Collins as Rocky
- Neal Morse as Brad
- Annie Haslam as Janet
- Robert Wyatt as Everett von Scott
- Christian Vander as Riff Raff (or maybe Jon Anderson)
- Kate Bush as Columbia
- I might say Christina Booth as Magenta for being in the band Magenta, but Dagmar Krause as Magenta
- Peter Hammill as the Criminologist

Be interesting to hear how different Prog singers would put their own spins on the music and performance.  Greg Lake might have been a good choice for Eddie or Rocky.

	I know you were limiting to singers. Though most of these are singers, I went for the more for the look. I am particularly proud of my Frank and Riff raff choices. 	^ I like your choices Ian. I wish I’d thought of Steven Wilson as Brad and especially Diamanda Galas, as well as Fripp (he’d be good in the role, his wife would have been good In it, I think, by the way). Of my list, Annie Haslam, Dagmar Kraus and James LaBrie I thought less silly than some of the others. Visually I find it easy to imagine Geddy Lee as Frank-N-Furter, but I don’t see his voice working well for it.

	On page two already? The JFF crowd is tough! ;) Thanks for the music, Ian, been ages since I last listened to Idiot Flesh and Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, and I enjoyed that Tigtone. Suitable indeed. Tilo Wolff of Lacrimosa (arguably Prog, but in PA) would have a good voice for Riff Raff, and has the look to fit in quite well with the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Though I don't think it would be appropriate for me to do so here, at the forum I belonged to before joining this one (for the TV show LEXX and for my own parody website, now long defunct), I was very into making image composites in Photoshop, and I was tempted to do something like that for this. I did get complaints from an actress for my Photoshops (composites were meant to be absurdly humorous, not insulting) and lost interest after that, even though some other actors liked what I was doing. I don't need Photoshop to imagine, say Geddy Lee, dressed as Frank-N-Furter anyway, nor Audioshop (if it exists) to fit the voice to the part.
