This idea started years ago when a friend and i tried to come up with a list of the absolute most nauseating songs of all time. I lost the list i made but made one on RYM of the ones i could recall.
Just curious what everyone else out there consideres the WORST OF THE WORST. I have a high tolerance for cheesy pop but some songs are so awful even i can't stand them. The 70s is one of my favorite eras of music but it also had some of the WORST. Here's my list. Please drop your turkey bombs here! |

What's interesting is that it will vary from person to person despite us all being prog fans-- e.g., I can't stand 'All the Young Dudes' but as far as I can tell, many think it's just fine. Meghan Trainor's 'All About That Bass' is pretty idiotic, Dexy's MRs 'Come on Eileen' I could do without, and even the Fab Four had some real stinkers, among them being my favorite whipping boy : Ouch |

^ yep, totally subjective. There are many songs i should hate but don't. And you're right, i like "All The Young Dudes" myself and i actually love "Come On Eileen"! There's not a lot i hate but every once in a while...
Just curious as to what others truly hate :)

You bet. That's probably the absolute worst song of all time. Top 2 with "Daddy Don't You Walk So Fast" by Wayne Newton!!!!!

^ LOL. That TRAIN song really is baaaaaaaaaaad!
Believe it or not i actually don't hate the Black Eyed Peas but i know that song wrankles many people's musical sensibilities. I like those awful novelty rap songs like "Baby Got Back." I'll add the TRAIN song to my list. That is nauseating!

I kind of like really terrible pop music and even the worst 70's pap has some charm or makes me smile (not really nostalgia because i'm not old enough to remember) but whenever I'm exposed to to modern music on the radio I feel physically ill, so there's at least a decade of atrocious pophits I don't know who is by. I'm sure I'd hate Kygo, Drake, The Weeknd or whatever but fortunately I don't know... but here's some annoying songs I do remember: Color Me Badd - I Wanna Sex You Up Offspring - Pretty Fly (For a White Guy) Inner Circle - Sweat (la la la la long) Smash Mouth - All Star Chumbawamba - TubthumperR. Kelly - I Believe I Can Fly Vengaboys - We're Going to Ibiza 4 Non Blondes - What's Up |

In my honest opinion, it is Rockwells - Sombodys Watching Me,
for the primal reason it relize so much on the characteristic energy and power Michael Jackson in the chorous when in real and rest of the song is a sad excuse of rap, and lame attempt at lame europo, which have been done better ( By Scatmann Joe). Reminds me of a pore soundtrack to a live action Scoobie Doo soundtrack. Michael Jackson is 96% of the reason the song isbany interesting att all cause it has a killer chorus. That "I Can Believe I Can Fly" I find so utterly nauseating.
I actually think that William Hung improved on R. Kelly's original on his album Inspiration.
I could put those in the so bad they're good category. One I might consider, but I wouldn't really get behind, adding is Samwel's "What What (In the Butt)" which was parodied by South Park (it's more of a novelty song that got some internet traction and I wouldn't expect to hear it on the radio). I used to work as an IT in a company in my hometown in 2016. I am mostly a prog and metal fan, in fact I like almost everything, including pop. However, in the office there used to be (and still might be, cause I left the job) a terrible radio with tons of ads. All day long my colleges used to listen to the cr*ppy radio and I remember some stuff from it. When I seek a job my willing is not to have any radio with commercial music on it. Here are some of the examples of songs which I really could not stand but I used to listen to them every day and I had them in my head, it was utterly terrible.
That repetitive something at 0:34... gosh... I had this one in my head, especially the part at 1:07... It was utterly terrible. There is tons of crappy pop music on the radio, and if you are forced to listen to such a station every day and the only musical instruments you hear are some piano and guitar which might have been just computer generated... it is terrible... I am glad I don't work at that place anymore.

I'm sure I can think of better candidates for worst pop song ever, but right now the one that comes to mind is "You're Beautiful" by James Blunt.
Hated everything about that song. The syrupy lyrics, the emasculated voice, the stupid video clip. Hideous tune. |

Anything by Train is nauseating. Baby Got Back is a fun song back when rap had a sense of humor before gangsta took over.

Yeah, awful song. How about Thunder by Imagine Dragons?
I had a similar experience. The department piped in one of the local Top 40/adult contemporary-type radio stations so all day long I got to listen to that crap. If I ever hear Walking In Memphis again, I'll probably throw up. The only saving grace was Christmas time when they played only Christmas music, which I like.

I don't mind the Chumbawumba tune. THe Offspring song is much better as Weird Al Yankovic's "Pretty Fly For a Rabbi." The rest i either vaguely remember and have deleted from my memory or haven't heard. I'll check them out! Actually i don't mind Smash Mouth either however that's not their best song for sure.

I don't mind that song. I like the synth funk synthesizer. It also is a cool testimony of our surveillance state. I find it meh but don't hate it myself :)

Yeah, i can't stand horrible radio either and it's pretty bad these days. Modern country stations are particularly awful but canned modern pop has reach new lows. I'm sensitive like you. Sometimes bad songs are fun but often they are insipid soul destroyers!
