Why couldn't the Professor get them off that damned island? Wasn't so
smart after all, was he? Stupid Professor.

I wonder if ol' Bob ever nailed Ginger or Maryann? I'm pretty sure he bonked the professor during that coconut rum party, when the prof got his hands stuck in that gopher hole.

I'll do my real mourning when Dawn Wells goes. But I'll still miss him though.

Knew the man personally, did you? For the record, Bob Denver (the subject of this thread) was a man, and an actor who made some of us smile, at times -- a real person. "Gilligan," his most famous role, was a ficticious character.

In case no one has ever told you, it is generally considered to be very rude to insult the recently deceased (unless they were evil). If you really can't say something appropriate on such an occasion, why not say nothing? Stern Smile

^^

I was raised on re-runs of Gilligan's Island, and if the show seems ridiculously unrealistic and trite today, well...who cares? It was fun, and funny to me when I was a lad. Oh, and Ginger and Mary Ann...I think they launched a generation (or two...or three) of adolescent monkey-spankers.

And Bob was pretty darn funny as Maynard Krebs too. The way he would shriek in terror whenever someone said the word "work" in front of him was hilarious.

Apparently he was a high school teacher before he got the Maynard role (and those were the days when it was harder to graduate high school than it is to get through most colleges now). Then he managed to portray not just one but two iconic characters who are still being referenced and discussed- decades after the respective shows went off the air.

(doesn't sound like a 'tool' to me)

I grew up with Gilligan and Maynard too. Great fun and lots of tongue in cheek humour that didn't click in the early days.

I still wonder if'n he tapped any of his co-stars.

Ah...One episode always stuck out for me. It was the one where Gilligan dreams he was a caveman. When he wakes up he says " skipper, I had this dream that we were cavemen and guess where we lived?"

Of course The Skipper answers "in caves"

and Gilligan's response was "WOW! We must of had the same dream"

stupid yes , but in a fun, silly way.

I have always thought of myself kind of like a Gilligan. Not to bright but VERY loveable.

and Peter(who always calls me Gdubbikans which is kind of like Lil Buddy) would be the Skipper.
