Here is what I can say about him:
The guitarist Richard Pinhas is one of the most representative artists who came from the 70's underground, experimental French rock scene. With his band Heldon he figured as a pioneer of  « electronic », pre « industrial » music. Heldon has offered many alternatives to a prevailing conformist musical climate. It’s during Heldon momentary break since 1979 that Richard Pinhas decided to launch his solo career (he previously recorded one album in solo “Rhisosphere”, 1977). Pinhas production in solo stays very closed to the sound already offered with Heldon. His music can be seen as a combination between molecular machines noises, electronic repetitive « patterns » and Robert Fripp influenced guitar style. Globally the texture tends to be more minimalist, simplistic, less chaotic and less agressive, with an overused of meditative, « drone » effects. Richard Pinhas has recorded more than 8 albums in solo until the come back of Heldon at the second half of the 90’s. He also worked with others artists (John Livengood in “cyber sally”…) His music can be considered as a brilliant answer to Eno & Fripp collaboration in an ambient art rock genre. The shadow of the philosopher Gilles Deleuze is always well presented with titles names as “Rhisosphere”, “De l’un et du multiple” and on recitation “L’éthique”. All Pinhas albums have been produced by Cuneifrom, a few of them have recently been reissued by Spalax. 

Highly recommended for fans of Robert Fripp, Brian Eno, Heldon and Krautrock.
