The top 20 I would say and the best is The Mothers Of Invention - Uncle Meat

Wow, finally a list I can work with. So much beauty and splendour. I voted for the Moodies. But Tull and Santana and everything else is just as great. Too bad Barclay James Harvest weren't around in the late 60's.

Soft Machine's - love it! I read somewhere that Wyatt had been inspired by early Chicago when the Softs expanded to a seven piece later that year...

I am missing 2 of these (Santana and High Tide) but from the rest, I'm going with The Moodies. Just love Lost Chord, every single note of it. I've recently re-visited my Moodies LP's, (the main 7) and love 'em all. Really special band.
