I love concept albums. My favorites include: Pain Of Salvation - Be and the rest of PoS, Shadow Gallery - Room V, Fates Warning - A Pleasant Shade of Gray, Neal Morse - One and a lot of others which I don't remember right now.
I don't need prog metal recommendations since I know most of it and would like to hear something else than that. Even though my favorites include a lot of prog metal albums, I don't consider it such a good genre. Thanks for the help!

  • Ayreon - Into The Electric Castle & The Human Equation
  • Shadow Gallery - Tyranny & Room V
  • Kamelot - The Black Halo (more like Power Metal with lots of progressive elements)
  • Adagio - Underworld

Kevin Gilbert-The Shaming of the True

I am going to complain about this excellent concept album being underrated in every "concept albums" thread

from classic prog rock items, Try Tales of mistery and imagination (1976) by the Alan Parson Project. their most consistent work and a very achieved concept album around Allan Poe's tales of terror

Scenes from a memory:Dream theater.

its great from start to finish, and although the plot is kinda corney, it will ocuppy a lot of time trying to figure it out, if you try to do it yourself instead of going online and looking it up

I can strangle a canary in a tin can and it would be really original, but that wouldn't save it from sounding like utter sh*t.
