I have never heard Voivod before, but if this is representative of their sound, I have call "crap" on it.  At least the band can play their instruments; I can't say the same for the vocalist vocalizing.

The world of sound is certainly capable of infinite variety and, were our sense developed, of infinite extensions. -- George Santayana, "The Sense of Beauty"

Not my taste. Same choice than Progosopher, but not the same reasons. The worst enemy of the good music is oftten the good musician.

5/10. Not asppalling, but completely unremarkable. Hair swinging, vaguely menacing, hard 'n' heavy, and with a fast manic bit etc. Singer sounds like a B list indie band frontman.

Just OK in my book. Calling it good would be an exaggeration. No vote.

Hmm....with 135 ratings that's from a 4.23 rated album. They actually have five 4 star rated albums.
Tech extreme prog metal is not my cup of tea but I won't say crap., perhaps there are better tracks on the rest of the album but they won't ever make it into my collection.

Same here. More than crap, but doesn't make it to good. Nothing remarkable.

Ratings are overrated. Listen with your ears, not your eyes.

No offense but that was kind of an unwarranted comment;...I been around more than most here being 64 years old. Heard just about all there is to hear in all the various genres...As I said it's not my cup of tea....
Hope that clears things up for you.

No offense intended, it just seems you feel an album's rating is very important for some reason.

No...I don't; I place no more meaning on the ratings than most of us here, and  if you look up my old posts over the last 2 years you'll see I often question those ratings both high and low.
I was just giving some background on a band that a lot of us are probably unfamiliar with. I have only heard a few tracks online on you tube.
While having some 4 star ratings they also have quite a few 2 star ratings....an uneven record of output.
No more no less.....don't over-analyze it.
But as I pointed out I don't really care for newer avant metal for the most part and only like a handful of prog metal bands from the past ...so I'm biased and not the one to do a fair reading on many of these newer modern  avant/tech metal bands.

Honestly I think it's cool you would look at their page because of the poll.Thumbs Up I didn't want to come off as grumpy but I am sick as hell Cry...and the weather is beautiful Angry Canadians are thought of as nice and friendly but I'm one of the a****les here.LOL

It's interesting to see how many PAers don't care for any metal at all; so far metal bands win the 'crap' award. Let's see, according to my list I have at least one more Craptastic poll to go. Part 22 ain't metal but it's gonna get some 'crap' votes I'm predicting.LOL

I'm not anti-metal per se but I haven't found many bands that I like. I do like Rush, some Dream Theater, some Opeth, some Iron maiden, etc...but the hard core prog metal,  tech,  or avant metal bands just don't appeal to me. To me it's more noise than music. But I'm willing to explore and listen.
Looking forward to your next selection to evaluate.....loved the Supersister btw.
Hope you feel better soon.
Smile

Was great, then the vocals kicked in. Went with good.
