I guess some people don't consider anticipation and dystopia as SF and I would be curious to hear/read what they think about uchronia. |

It looks like we 'all' have our own interpretation of what the Sci-Fi genre should really entail or even look like with in one's own imagination. SCI-FI simply accounts for giving fictional and scientific subject mater for the listener or viewer.
RUSH fall into this category of fictional science! 2112 is science fiction Signals is science fiction Clockwork angels is science fiction. What I am I missing here in regards to what classifies something to be science fiction??? |

The OP commands "QUIET!!"
What a rowdy lot!! However, I really appreciate your passion for the topic, AND your own bands, countries etc.! Which sci fi novel do any of you think would have potential for a prog composition? I'd suggest "Ringworld"!

Been done: The song "We" by progressive rock band Brazil references the Zamyatin novel on their 2004 album A Hostage and the Meaning of Life.

A few years ago someone, somewhere here in this forum suggested a musical re-interpretation of the "Dune" series in the form of a six album spanning concept record in the style of Tangerine Dream's "Zeit" - now that's something I'd LOVE to hear! |
