^ love the Fates Warning and Headspace. Definitely on my list of 10. Airbag's Disconnected is wonderful too. :) Right now, Damian Wilson's 'Built for Fighting' is making a case to maybe crack my 10, but there have been numerous great titles this year in prog. 2016 has been a great year thus far. :)

I haven't listened to BBT and Frost yet, but the last DT is my disappointment of the year.

I knew someone would come in and say they hated the albums I picked. (I didn't think they'd be that quick though...) Why are people so quick to do that, and what purpose does it serve?

One more recommendation: The new Ingranaggi della Valle. All tracks are great, but the last one is something special: very Zeuhlish with an additional flute.

Ha! So I just logged in after few years, forgetting that this site exists... I am spending countless hours mostly on RYM
Anyway, heres what I can say about 2016: -missing some really outstanding release, I hope that maybe THINKING PLAGUE might release something strong
-currently listening to new CORIMA, zeuhl playing band. Quetzalcoatl was phenomenal, playful and original album, and I am missing those crazy vocals on the new one which is mostly instrumental (disappointing). I need more listens but it doesnt sound anywhere as great as Quetzalcoatl, unfortunately. https://corima.bandcamp.com/album/amaterasu
-two EPs which I am enjoying a lot come from finnish band ISOISA KOHTU KOHTU. They are playing brutal prog/art-punk/noisecore. Check them out, especially their full-lenght from 2015 is very good as well https://isoisakohtukohtu.bandcamp.com/
-another enjoyable EP from Finland, KHANUS - Rites of Fire. Described as shamanic metal of death by the band. If you like dissonance, strange vocals and originality, check it out https://youtu.be/o7Hj3yP9TRQ
-listening to new Watchtower right now and it sounds good!
-not impressed by new APATT album and still analyzing new PRYAPISME and liking it so far. I like crazy stuff in general. https://youtu.be/i62H6s2qWho
-recently tasted some snippets from new BOB DRAKE album Arx Pilosa, and it is the same as always - I just find his solo albums boring and not up to what he did in the past with bands like 5uus, Thinling Plague etc.
-anyone into slightly zeuhlish jazz-rock, might check out new album by VOX NOSTRA I personally prefer wackier stuff, but those extracts on their website are not bad. http://pierreminviellesebas.wixsite.com/voxnostra
-CLOUD BECOME YOUR HAND - Rest in Fleas. I dont know what to say about this. Videoclip is enjoyable, I didnt have time to check out more from them. https://youtu.be/Trj2ZLebWnM

Also,
Looking very much forward to the new Dungen and Corima. Should be interesting methinks...in each their own way.

Baron Crane is the only band listed that I had even heard of before yesterday. If you're interested in hearing any of these the full albums are on YouTube. Stoned Diplodocus might be a good one to start with since they use a variety of styles and sounds.
I like the new Causa Sui a lot. I ordered the vinyl version right after hearing it for the first time. They are definitely on my favorite band list.

Corima is very good but very different from the last one, a lot less Koenji. I like it a lot.

Electric Octopus - Belfast, Northern Ireland
This is a new band that I have really gotten into a lot lately. They are an instrumental improvised jam trio who will regularly go into the studio for a full day and, like I said, improvise and jam. Tracks over twenty minutes are not uncommon. They have released quite a bit this year...
This Is Our Culture - June 2016 (CD) Colour Atlas - September 2016 Under A Black Moon - October 2016 (CD) Live On Oxford Island - October 2016 Vibe Factory - November 2016 Be Real - November 2016
Everything is available to download (Bandcamp) but only two CDs so far.

New Israeli band Hanagaria have just released a very promising first album, splendid stuff really. They mix middle eastern influences with groove and some avant garde touches, all very tight with a lot of ideas, fans of Estradasphere should check it out. Definitely one of the better realeases this year, the whole album is up on bandcamp.

just listened to it for the first time yesterday and that is truth. they certainly carved out more of their own sound this time about (although it does seem a little less intense then their previous...nevertheless, can't see it not making my top 5 come years end.)
