The influence from "baroque pop" like Love and Scott Walker shines through here, more so than The Doors whom the Bunnymen are usually compared to, but filtered through a vaguely gothy very 1980s aesthetic: Dark and gloomy, but in a colourful stylized manner that often comes across as knowingly campy and foppish.
