I did borrow Dead Rising from a friend of mine. That turned out to be a bad idea. The AI is awful, I don't like having to protect survivors from zombies and other human enemies AND race against the clock all at the same time, especially when they just run away and try to fight the zombies badly themselves. Plus the aiming system with firearms is a joke. Auto-targeting would have made life easier with those large swarms attacking you.

I beat Call Of Duty 2 about an hour ago. I just went to Normandy for vacation, so fighting at places I'd just been to was pretty cool.

My son LOVES that game, and is really good at it.I wasn't too crazy about it myself.Besides the problems you listed with it the save feature is one of the worst ever.

In keeping with my trend of being about 8-10 months behind on my gaming, I just got Mass Effect last week.

it's pretty cool so far, though I feel like I'm missing out on a lot of possibilities with each decision I have to make...

IWD II - The Time Loop was epically well done, even more so than the rest of the game. The game just could have done with a few more options here and there.

That reminds me: must continue Icewind Dale (with Heart of Winter). Big%20smile  I think I'm going to start afresh with a better party though, 'cause mine struggle with all those undead. Cry

MTW: Viking Invasion. Easily the best of the total war games so far (with a serious nod to RTW with the Europa Barbarorum mod. I have to admit that MTWII is much better than Rome, and has its own charm, and they really did get some good campaigns going for the expansion.

Hm. The original is pretty good, even if I think the second is simply a slightly stronger game in every respect.  Loved going through IWD with Heart Of Fury mode and level 1 characters. That was really tough, but also so much faster on the spellcasting. On the final boss battle now and it is pretty damn tough. Screwed up my party a little with a couple of multiclasses that became more permanent than I'd intended (yeah, clever me, looking at the favoured classes after the change), still strongish though. I think next time I'll throw in a bard and a druid or something.

Civilization IV is conquering my life currently.

And modded Oblivion.

And also Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 and The Sims 2.

it's just so fun to waste time in games like the above mentioned. makes me a happy man.
I'm a reasonable man, get off my case

I created a new party:

Male Dwarven Fighter (Lawful Good)
Female Elven Fighter (Lawful Evil)
Female Halfling Fighter/Thief (Chaotic Good)
Female Human Conjurer (Lawful Evil)
Male Human Bard (Lawful Neutral)
Male Half-Elf Ranger/Cleric (Lawful Good)

I've yet to give the team a go though... I created them and just saved the game upon loading.  I've also tried to get the best stats as possible on roll-up. Big%20smile

I usually don't have evil characters but there's a few evil-aligned weapons and armour in the game, so I'm hoping they'll be of use.  Besides, an evil mage sounds a little bit better than a Chaotic Good one. Big%20smile

I much prefer 2nd Edition, to be fair... I cannot get my head round 3/3.5 so much... but I prefer the Epic and Prestige classes in 3/3.5 though.

Hm, I'm pretty comfortable with both editions. I think 3 grants a few more options, though, even if it's a bit less charming. Looking at the party, yeah, it looks quite decent if you got stats in the right places. Fighter/Thief can use the new sneak attack thing, IIRC, if you turn on an option thingy somewhere. I'd probably have headed for a straight cleric (ha!) myself, but it does look doable.

My last party for IWD II was

Human Fighter
Dwarf Fighter/Barbarian 2
Halfling Ranger/Thief
Elf Fighter/Thief
Aasimar Cleric
Half-elf Mage

Of varying alignments. Worked quite well, but I think the two thief multiclasses ended up being redundant (it was an accident in the first place...)

New one is

Aasimar Paladin
Half-Orc Barbarian
Dwarf Druid
Human Cleric
Human Sorceror
Deep Gnome Rogue

So far working out well.

Going to need to try some hellishly weird multi-class combinations at some point. Sorceror/barbarian, here I come...

Aren't Barbarians anti-magic? LOL

I always go for Fighter over Barbarian, to be honest.

Ah yes... must check that sneak attack... I would love to properly back stab, like in Baldur's Gate. Big%20smile

The only issue with the Cleric/Ranger is that you can only use Cleric weapons and armour.  However, I have other characters to do the hitting and I have a few bow and missile weapon users.  You get Druid and Cleric spells and also dual wield. Big%20smile

Conjurers get access to all the Mage spells available in the game.

Hm, I swear conjurers were barred from [s]evocation[/s] um... divination and something else. As I remember, they were one of the more useful wizard types.

Barbarians/fighters. Interesting choices. Fighters probably grow stronger earlier, and get better armour off the cuff, but then, rage/damage resistance/non-backstabbing/fast movement can help, as can having a couple of extra hit points a level. Cleric/Ranger. Issue is more that he'll go up cleric levels a bit slowly, so you'll get hold person/heal super-post-ultra wounds/raise dead etc. a tad later. I admit they are good fun.

In the past few days I've mostly been using my old Sega Saturn it was out of action for a while as it totally lost sound but I've been able to get the sound working again and I'm now making up for lost time by playing a few of the games that I've ignored in the past couple of months.

In particular I've been playing:
Daytona CE
F-1 Live Information
Soviet Strike
True Pinball
Virtual On
Wipeout 2097
