That is clearly a list devised entirely to piss off RPG fans. My top 5 RPGs would be:
1) Lost Odyssey 2) Final Fantasy 6 3) Shining Force 2 4) Icewind Dale 2 5) Heroquest I would have put Deus Ex in that list if I wanted to cause a bit of controversy. |

I can't say I'm familiar enough with RPG's to make a decent list. Earthbound would be on top, though.

I got rid of a few Gamecube and PS2 games I no longer play today and got GTA4 for my 360, that should keep me entertained until Fable 2 and Infinite Undiscovery are released.

Ideally, I wouldn't put any JPRGS in my list. Not 'cause they're not good games, they are but I just prefer PC RPGs, such as Icewind Dale and the like.
I'd rather separate my top 5 list into formats: PC: 1. Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal 2. Planescape: Torment 3. Baldur's Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast 4. Neverwinter Nights + Expansions 5. Neverwinters Nights 2 + Expansions Then I'd have Icewind Dale afterwards... I'm still playing it, so I cannot really vote on it yet. Icewind Dale II I've yet to play either. SNES: 1. Final Fantasy VI 2. Lufia II 3. Seiken Densetsu 3 4. Lufia 5. Earthbound |

I've never been a fan of the PC RPGs, myself.

The thing is Jake, PC RPGs are usually better than console ones. Not always though.
If they'd made Oblivion PC only, I think it'd have been a lot better. |

They're better if you like that sort of thing. I just prefer the style of old-school console RPG's to PC RPG's.

The combat system was designed for the 360 controller. |

Exactly.
Plus it's not as RPGy compared to D&D and even WoW and Ultima games. That's mostly due to the fact it was cross-platform, rather than PC only. |

^ No, it's because that's how the Elder Scrolls series is. It's not about breaking every aspect of upgrading the world down to math and stuff, it's about being thrust into a world that breathes and is alive. It is both very free and very limited. You can do literally anything you want outside of the main quest, but actually progressing levels is too limited for me. It also fails for other reasons having it on PC only would not fix.

My main problem with Oblivion is that the game world went from being really deep and interesting in Morrowind to being the shallow rubbish of Oblivion. Oh and then there's the appalling bugs and terrible distance graphics.
Still at least Oblivion isn't as buggy as Crysis, EA definitely forced that one out far too early. |

I wasn't that keen on Morrowind either... but it was better than Oblivion.
It's not about the number crunching for me either... the open-endedness just doesn't work for me so well. Fighting wasn't as interesting... locations weren't as interesting... levelling wasn't even that interesting. Stongholds are a cool idea and so are the Soul Gems. But you need to be quite into the game before you get the opportunity to buy a house, or using soul gems... and by that time, you're bored... or I was at least. The actual quests seemed uninteresting to me... very generic. They also didn't feel important. Maybe they get better as the game progresses... I didn't even get to speak to the Sean Bean (). I like the lore though and I'm the kind of guy who'd find every book and put them in my house or stronghold. |

I can't stand playing games on the computer but my son convinced me to try out World of Warcraft, which him and my daughter are heavily into.I have become pretty hooked, and really haven't done anything else on the computer since I started playing the game.

Blizzard is the devil, I guess.
I'm pretty sure that they have a clause in their fine print that states that they own your soul when you register. |

I think so,I didn't read the fine print and now I am screwed.Does anybody else here play?I play in the Ghostlands,a PvE realm.I am a Night Elf Druid, and belong to a pretty cool guild. If anyone from here plays and wants to partner up let me know.
We also have the Burning Crusades expansion and my son is a Blood Elf.We were at the dinner table the other night debating the merits and demerits of the different factions and races and my wife bursts out...."Horde vs. Alliance.......Horde vs. Alliance...Night Elf vs. Blood Elf......don't you guys talk about anything else?!"
I'm already frothing at the mouth for the upcoming expansion Wrath of the Lich King, the Death Knights look so cool!

ooh, a list:
RPGs: 1. Baldur's Gate II 2. Planescape: Torment 3. Fallout (original. not so keen on 2) 4. Knights Of The Old Republic (first one, again) 5. Icewind Dale II Shame that KOTOR II kind of flunked after the opening as it had SO much potential. Games overall: 1. Baldur's Gate II 2. Medieval Total War 3. Planescape: Torment 4. Age Of Empires II 5. Warcraft III (however poor I was at it, just because I LOVED the storyline so much and the game is actually very, very strong) 6. Fallout 7. Rise Of Nations 8. Europa Barbarorum (Mod For RTW. Would be way higher if I could play it on my current computer, and if it didn't affect sleep patterns so much) 9. Shadow Of The Colossus 10. KOTOR 11. The Matrix game. That was epic. 12. Icewind Dale II. Rarely, if ever, have I seen such a brilliantly balanced RPG as far as combat goes. Anyone else played Silver? I remember that being good fun. Just been on IWD II recently. Very, very well balanced, though sometimes I'd like the detail in the social scene to be a bit deeper and more open-ended (admittedly, the Targos section was very good. After that, it sort of lost energy). Also, lots of interesting options for character crunch development, without breaking any of them, which is good fun to work with.
