I think its good for their "Good bay" album. If you are a Floyd fan I promise you to find all stuffs that you want to listen from them. Fortunately this isn't another Dave's album. This is a PINK FLOYD album. IMO this isn't perfect and their river isn't endless but their music and and atmosphere is endless.

Hi,
With the nice write up on USA Today, I bet that here come some good sales to add to the PF story!
I still haven't bothered with it ... too many LP's to replace still!

This album needed Klaus Schulze to become a masterpiece

I've enjoyed the album immensely. It's kind of like sitting around a warm fire with some old friends you haven't seen for years. No new ground is broken, but there really doesn't need to be - that's just not what this is about. It's a tremendous gift just to have the opportunity to relax with some old pals one more time.
This definitely has a classic Floyd vibe - there's lots of that glacial blues waltz thing that made Shine On You Crazy Diamond so great. The text-to-speech material is the most obvious link to the Division Bell - it strikes me a bit funny, since this type of thing was novel 20 years ago when the album came out. Today we casually ask favors of Siri, Google, and Cortana.
It's hard to be sure exactly what motivated this recording, but I'm guessing that David and Nick really miss Rick, not to mention times gone by, and thought this album would give some closure. Indeed, the album feels like a calm, measured reminiscence. And the instrumental approach makes for a very nice drift downstream - turn the volume up; there's a lot going on in the background. I was somewhat apprehensive going in, but now that I've got a few listens under my belt, i'm extremely glad they did this.

Funny thing is, from the reviews I've read so far, opinions are very mixed: people either love it or hate it. There seems to be no middle ground.

And the producers and engineers for his Das Rheingold project. If you see that special on the DVD, what they do there on KS's piece is far more interesting than .... this LP!

I will someday ... but I'm spoiled.
Having heard at least 30 old bootlegs and all the solo albums, it was very clear to me that since DSOTM, most of his work was buried and not used, though a song, or a lyric passed through here and there. The bootlegs show a lot more than will ever be released, and Roger doesn't want to be there, because he was not the big name star on it at that time! He was merely a part of the picture, not an egomaniac on the loose with a thousand songs and ideas!
I don't think that PF would have been this big without Rick's touches, and they were visible in the early days a lot more than they were in the later days.

An observation: I have looked up TER reviews on Amazon and found that almost all 5-star reviews are written by people who are able to express complex thoughts clearly, and to make good use of grammar.
Whereas many 1-star reviews come across as inaccurate and crude (e.g. "No lyrics - sucks @$$, verbatim).

I pre-ordered my 12" vinyl copy in October, still waiting - with that said though I have heard it (CD) and I find it slow and somewhat disjointed, as in it (or they) didn't quite know where to fit it musically, is it early Floyd or late? Either way, it to me is more for Rick Wright than Floyd as a whole. Cheers G C

But aren't all PF albums kind of "slow"?

YIPPEE !! My LP arrived. 1st listen = EXCELLENT !! Not a duff second throughout. Very nicely done. Methinks Wright would be very pleased we got to hear his work !! Side 3 was particularly good.

It's interesting how people's 'musical ears' and tastes are different.
I've listened to quite a bit of it online at you tube and I find it somewhat boring at times . There are some nice things here and there but overall I can't say I'm impressed.

dr wu23, true but look at the in the bright side of life, it could be worse really I imagine if we all liked New Direction and Justin Bieber among many others hahaha nightmare really I actually do enjoy do like this album, Allons 1 & 2 are my favorite, it brought me back to earlier Floyd inc. Echoes. My least favorite track was the last one, that song with vocals was very disappointing to me :( bah. hugs

It's meant to be listened to all the way through, not in bits. Imagine if you'd never heard Dark Side Of The Moon or The Wall all the way through, but had just heard most of the tracks in whatever order,
