Shine on you Crazy Diamond might be my all-time favorite. I'm going with the whole thing since I narrowed it down so much already.

"Revealing The Science Of God" is to me, the greatest prog song.
|
I am currently digging:
Hawkwind, Rare Bird, Gong, Tangerine Dream, Khan, Iron Butterfly, and all things canterbury and hard-psych. I also love jazz!
Please drop me a message with album suggestions.

Ahh, Salisbury is great.
Anyway, for me there's two equal Nr 1 prog songs.
Queen — The March of the Black Queen King Crimson — Starless.

Thank you, Ole-the-first salisbury defines my music taste. This track was only ever performed 3 times live. Starless, I love that track and to think that they almost did not want to add it to the album wow!! The Red album is one of my fav albums of all Queen, ah Freddie's vocals were instrumental. To date, I have not heard anyone that can match Feddie's or Byron's vocals

I was wondering if you remember Lucifer's Friend? They were Classically trained musicians from Germany that hired an English vocalist by the name of John Lawton who later joined Uriah Heep. Their first album was a definite cross between Uriah Heep/Deep Purple..but their second album titled...."Where The Groupies Killed The Blues" was way more progressive containing reflections of early King Crimson that featured violins, cellos, and violas. Those elements were in their style along with the voice of John Lawton . A side project was put together by the band and they titled this unit THE PINK MICE. It was instrumental classical rock.
