Thing is if your first introduction to a band is their worst album even the greatest of bands could be in trouble, first impressions can in a subtle yet influencing way change how I perceive an artist I love a few bands even a bit of a fanboy take Kansas for example (a band I have always admired) if you let me hear Drastic Measures first I doubt I would have liked Kansas much after that but I heard Leftoverture first and I was sold. So to sum it all up show me a band that hasn't released a so so album from their decent sized catalog and that's the band no one dislikes I believe.

Well, If there was a band LOVED by EVERYONE, it would be the best band ever. But if we're talking about the band whom nobody DISLIKES...
Maybe Pink Floyd, but I'm not sure either. I don't love them and never didm, but they are straightforward enough not to unplease people with different tastes.
Mike Oldfield maybe?

I strongly dislike all three of those. Especially Yes. I couldn't really say that I disdain KC (or Yes), but that implies something beyond mere dislike. I do like Genesis, though.
There are lots of people who like Kansas. Certainly more than most of the Avant groups (even the more popular ones), which are rarely mentioned outside of the RIO thread. |
I love your sig.
But yeah, I don't think everyone can like one band.
I think that the only band that I can think of that most adults wouldn't ever say is bad is Pink Floyd because of The Dark Side of the Moon. Their music just has a lot of credibility, so people think they have to like it, and then... well... they do.

This is a very strange thread. Of course there will always be someone who dislikes a band.

obviously every band is going to have its detractors, im sure if I played 21st century schizoid man to anyone at a mariah carey concert they would not enjoy it.
but there are a few select bands that anyone who like prog just doesnt dislike. Ive never met anyone who says they enjoy prog music and say they dont like king crimson.
i think that a few of the bands like that are
king crimson
yes
and even though theyre not prog, no one really dislikes zeppelin.
i know im speaking in generalitys but does anyone have a real disdain for those bands?
im sure theres alot of people indifferent to them though. |
Give them Supertramp, Crime of the Century then. I don't think anyone would complain.

1 Chronicles 13:7-9
Then David and all Israel played music before God with all their might, with singing, on harps, on stringed instruments, on tambourines, on cymbals, and with trumpets.
