I think it's the age-group and/or the fact that both of you have S-names.

Cool. You should consider entery a conservatory or something later in the future. Theory lessons would benefit you greatly.

It's good. I fired Sony and hired REAPER and I am in love. I've never spent all day recording, yet here I am, getting things done. It feels good to just do what I love doing and not have the technical headaches Sony's DAWs presented (seriously, I bought three of them). How's the baby? |

Sometimes I think he's not a baby anymore, all ten months of him, but a big boy learning and doing stuff fast as hell. He's an incredibly beautiful and funny guy, after some rough patches in the beginning parenthood has been a blast. ![]() I quickly checked out Reaper, if I decide to upgrade from Audacity and actually put a little money into making music, I might seriously consider that. I've been brewing ideas for the next album ever since (and before) the first came out and i'm hoping to get the itch to get recording some time. If I only had time. When's your third coming out?

Our youngest gets into everything. He's too damn smart for his own good. "Thank you, Ephraim. Now please put back the bleach and my flip flops." I highly recommend REAPER. It's only $60 if you choose to buy the license. Well worth it. While the controls are not (initially) intuitive to me, they make more sense and adapting is worth the time. I don't have a release date. I've learned how to use my Line6 device as a soundcard, so I'm re-recording everything. Much cleaner this way. But the material is mostly all written (since all eight songs are in part at least 5 years old). This is truly "old" material, and I'm pleased to rework it now that I'm older and wiser. It's amusing to look back on things you wrote in your bedroom as a teenager, and it's encouraging to be able to take the good parts and restructure them into something really cool. I need to listen to yours again. I was very pleased with it. |

I remember your kind comments after the first listen ![]() Onni's always been really interested whenever I play anything, coming to detune the guitar or switch kits on the electric drums, and now he's noticed that we have shelf full of cd's that are really fun to pull out and throw around. I tried to put them in really tight rows, but now when he tries to take one, a whole big block of them comes out... No big losses suffered so far though ![]() Oh, this reminds me that I've been meaning to borrow my cousin's Line6 Pod to get some variation in my guitar sounds, maybe that'll be the spark to get me going. Right now I've got perhaps five pretty definite song ideas all in some sort of half-written form, plus a pretty well final intro, it's going to be a lot more diverse than last time, and now I'm going to be singing too! I've written lyrics for ages, but only very recently I've managed to come up with something worth working on somewhat seriously. Lyrics and vocals will be the biggest challenge by far in making another album.

I finally have a child who worships guitars. He loves hitting the keyboards. He loves bass. It's awesome. My other two children don't care about instruments. I love Line 6. I think they are the best of the "modeling" fad. Lyrics and singing are definitely my biggest challenges. With a guitar, it's easy. With my voice, it's war. |

Onni loved to bang and trample on our keyboard as well, and what do you know, after a while all it let out was a really nasty buzz whatever sound you used ![]() ![]() I know I can sing a nice song with a pretty voice, but do I have the confidence to put any weight into it and really belt out if needed? The three actual songs that at least are definitely coming on the album all require quite different styles, it remains to be seen if I can handle them all. That's the biggest problem I have. Luckily I happen to work in a place that has a couple of soundproof rooms designed for recording, so there I can make all the noise I want without thinking if the neighbors hear me. One of the plus sides of having a baby has been that I've been singing so many silly songs to him that I've actually gained a lot of confidence in my vocal skills
