True or false, Kati. Do Rush fans attract girls or is it all in their minds? LOL

SteveG, considering all the hypotheses I think they do most attract female proggers, every female who is a avid prog moozik lover love, not only like but really do love RUSH! I am the one odd out here and feel left out to be honest, no doubt they are really good but with so many choices now these days, I tend to prefer and to listen to other bands this not taking away anything from how good they are instrumentally especially :) xxxx hugs

It looks like a song off of Vapor Trails, maybe?  Only see the bottom of the picture, but it looks like the Vapor Trail album cover....I'd guess Secret Touch, or if instrumental than Freeze Part IV of "Fear".

There is hope. Clap

RUSH as musicians are absolutely brilliant and here is an example how mind-blowing they are, Rush - YYZ ha brilliant! liquid tension experiment move aside really (well in regards to this song yes otherwise come back pls, pls come back I said nothing pls) I am not the biggest fan of the helium vocals and this is ok, however I do love Budgie (high pitch vocals too) the song Parents and the singer here sounds and reminds me of Nancy Sinatra with the song Bang Bang :) ehehhehe hugs

Listen to Working Man, or a lot of tracks on their debut album. It might not be 'metal' in the modern sense, but it is at least Led Zeppelin style hard rock.

I always thought Budgie sounded similar to early Rush.
Hello, mirror. So glad to see you, my friend. It's been a while...

Rush are not a heavy band, and much less metal. They are a mixture of prog and hard rock from Caress of Steel till Permanent Waves. Moving Pictures is not prog rock nor hard rock album. I don't consider their radio-friendly songs as Fly by Night, Closer to the Heart, Freewill, Spirit of the Radio to be prog rock. They influenced prog metal, but they don't have any metal songs in their musical catalog at all. The same thing is with the band Rainbow. They are influential on power metal, but they are not metal at all.

I found it silly when someone label their the most popular song Tom Sawyer as heavy rock.

As a whole, I definitely wouldn't call Rush a Prog Metal band (they did get close though on songs like The Necromancer, Cygnus X-1, and many tracks from Clockwork Angels). They certainly have influenced many Prog Metal bands, and they were quite heavy for a 70's prog band.

To be honest, I have always considered Rush to be more Crossover Prog than anything else, specifically everything after Permanent Waves. They are a hard band to properly define, which is part of why I love them so much!

Agreed. Hard to define overall. Their music has covered multiple genres.

The real question is why does Heavy Prog include both bands that are not heavy (Porcupine Tree) and bands that are not prog (Uriah Heep). Shocked

the Porkies were in another subgenre, can't quite remember which (Exp/Post?), and later moved to Heavy because the later work was deemed "heavier" than the earlier work.   As I recall, I was fine with the move but would've preferred they'd stay put.
