I read an interview with Steven Wilson and he said it was a coincidence that the album title relates to Jeff Buckley.
Just give it all an hour by the concrete lake.

I'm pretty confident this will be PA Album of the Year, even if it's not my personal #1.

I think that it'll face stiff competition from Dream Theater and Opeth and Rush if Clockwork Angels gets released before the end of the year.

Idk...Opeth's new one seems to have people divided. I think top 7-4. Who knows with DT honestly. Probably in the mix though. I do agree with Pat that at this time at least GFD is looking like the overall winner. Could change as more things are releases/people listen to it more of course.

Definitely Spring 2012 at the earliest.
Based on Caravan and BU2B, CA is unlikely to even be the best album released in Spring never mind that or any year.

Opeth, PT/SW, Anathema North Atlantic Oscillation and even DT are embracing Prog. Rush are running away from it, or Geddy Lee is. Peart and Lifeson seem to have similar tastes (Tool PT for sure) whereas Lee's into bands like Arcade Fire and Fleet Foxes. Nothing wrong with that of course but it doesn't bode well...

I'd like to see this Wacko

Though i understand the idea that Lee is going away from Prog. He doesn't seem to enjoy talking about that "golden era" in interviews, and always calls themselves immature and such at that age.

I'm very curious to how Clockwork Angels will turn out. It's going to be a conceptual piece, Peart says he wants this album to be his pinnacle of drumming and lyrics. While Lifeson and Lee continue to be consistent on their instruments.
Pertaining to the singles - Caravan is a good song, BU2B doesn't stand a chance - good thing it's a B-Side.

EVERYTHING Wilson reloeases is a candidate for Album of the Year even if they don't have material for it, that's a fact. LOL

After the first listen I was not sure what to think of Grace for Drowning. I absolutely adored a few tracks, but many of the tracks were far more standard SW than I was expecting. However, after the second listen, I can safely that this album is really awesome.

For anyone with the deluxe edition, how's the third disc entitled "The Map"? I tried asking someone earlier, but apparently they're far too cool to answer... ; P

For some reason Steve left off some of the best tracks from the Insurgentes sessions. The 78 & Puncture Wound especially were much better than all the songs on the actual album besides the titled track, imo at least.

Puncture Wound should have definitely made it on the actual album; just a great track.

I too am curious about this third disc...

I'm just ehhh.... about the first listen. There are a couple songs I could see on a playlist for me....but most of it for me is too melancholy sounding. Maybe I am getting tired of that from Wilson.........dunno.

I like the Blackfield material better.........and now I am wondering if he will take Porcupine Tree down this extreme path...if they ever release another album.

I'll keep listening......maybe it will grow on me....anyone have any Prozac?
Wink
