OPETH -  My arms, your hearse
The water rushes over all
cities crash in the mighty wave;
the final man is very small,
plunging in for his final bathe

Weird (and totally unique), but there is beauty and undeniable artistry in there. Slowly growing on me....

I see she's not listed here -- this is DEFINITELY a shoe-in for "Prog Folk!" Stern Smile

I have all of her albums and this (Ys) took the longest to grow on me.Well worth persevering with.

She has been short-listed for a sandal-in to PAs,Peter.

Smile Thanks for the info, Ergo -- it's good to know that she's on a short list for addition.

Yeah, I've had this disc for almost a year now, & hadn't played it very much (the odd voice and sprawling song structures -- or the lack of obvious structure) rather put me off, but I was just listening again, digging it, and was surprised to find her not listed. "Ys," the album that brought her to the attention of many (myself included) has been out for what -- about a year now?

If this is anything to go by, I think we need some more of the new "psych folk" movement in our "prog folk" category. Newsom is definitely taking folk somewhere new!

Get her in ASAP, PA!

In line with what Peter was saying about 'new' Psych/Acid-Folk.

Marissa Nadler,Josephine Foster,Fern Knight and the previously mentioned Joanna Newsom are leaders in the the genre.

In about 30 minutes I will be listening to IQ's "The Seventh House", on my journey home from work, in preparation for going to see them live tomorrow night in Bury.  I love IQ and haven't seen them in absolutely ages.  Can't wait.

That should be a fun show.  I like IQ quite a bit.  I think that I read somewhere else in PA, that the Bury show was one that the vocalist wasn't going to be able to make so one of the other members is going to be doing the singing.  That should be interesting.
