So you're as obssesed as I am ,eh?
Well, my spouse actually approved of these purchases finally and she is actually enjoying some of the other stuff I bought (Deluge Grander, French TV, Helmet Of Gnats, Far Corner...).

I was going through Tzadik's latest releases and was wondering if anyone got to listen to these:

Rashanim :  Shalosh
"With its exciting blend of rock, jazz and jewish music, Rashanim has quickly become one of the most dynamic bands in the Jewish New Music scene. Their last release Masada Rock has garnered them much well deserved attention, and after extensive touring through Europe the band is more than ready for their third studio recording on Tzadik. Tighter than ever, this Jewish power trio rips through an electrifying program of mystical jewish melodies and middle eastern grooves."

Alon Nechushtan and Talat :  The Growl
"Talat is a dynamic new ensemble based in New York that plays original music crossing the borders of Jazz, Middle Eastern Groove and Klezmer. Featuring a quintet of some of the most talented players out of the new generation, this is a brilliant debut CD that will delight fans of Masada, Rashanim, Satlah and the Hasidic New Wave. Loping melodies, catchy hooks and improvisational fireworks from a new generation bringing Jewish music to exciting new places. "

Billy Martin :  Starlings
"A striking and colorful CD of chamber music by Billy Martin, the dynamic percussionist from one of the world’s most popular instrumental bands, Medeski Martin and Wood. Performed and recorded originally on a wide variety of African thumb pianos, these delightful pieces have been meticulously transcribed, arranged and orchestrated by Anthony Coleman for string quartet and chamber orchestra. Rounding out the program is a suite of compositions performed by Billy’s dynamic percussion ensemble."

Evan Parker :  Time Lapse
"Evan Parker has practically single handedly redefined the language of the saxophone. A profound influence on several generations of musicians, his impact on modern saxophone technique is staggering. His newest project takes his visionary music to a new level through the world of overdubbing and electronics. Time Lapse is one of Evan’s greatest achievements. Eleven compositions by one of the most important and radical improvisers in the world. Essential. "

Eugene,
I recommended it before and don't recall if you said you had it or not so...
For a "lighter" and jazzier side of Zeuhl go for Potemkine. Maybe Archaia as well.

As for a continuation of your Koenjihyallei experience go for Happy Family, Korekyojin, Bondage Fruit, Ruins and Ground Zero.

I will be replacing my mp'3 with cd's for most of these in the coming weeks.

I have Triton and Nicolas II by Potemkin for quite a long time. They never associated with Zeuhl for me, just because I got Potemkin before I knew what Zeuhl is, and just recently realised both CDs are released on Soleil Zeuhl label - so they might be Zeuhl thenLOL. Anyway - very good stuff they are.

I have two albums by Ruins - 1995-Hyderomastgroningem and 2002-Tzomborgha, they seem to be a bit noisy for me, but I appreciate I should allow more time for listening to it.

As to Archaia, Happy Family, Korekyojin, Bondage Fruit and Ground Zero - all of them go to my wish list as we speak - thanks Assaf!

Just though I'd mention Ensemble Rayé, who are an offshoot of Débile Menthol.  I've yet to hear them, but from what I've read, they sound quite fun!

Anymore aware of them?

Only heard of them, but not their music. Looking for it anyway.
Saw them being mentioned as RIO band in several websites.

Anyway, just thought of letting you know this (if you don't know already).
Far Corner will release their new album entitled Endangered in January 2007 via Cuneiform

The following is taken from their site:
Far Corner's second release sees the group expanding their instrumental palette by including more keyboards, a greater variety of cello and bass sounds, orchestral percussion, and several home-made instruments.  In addition, instruments such as violin, trumpet, bamboo flute, and melodica are featured.

Compositionally, the tracks stretch farther in all stylistic directions, from the prog metal-styled "Creature Council," to the jazzy "Not From Around Here,"to the epic title track which includes a huge sonic palette of instruments, moods, and styles.

You can here samples here:

Very fun. "Meme en hiver" is one of my gold standards. You really can't go wrong with any of their releases. Stuff's not as aggressive as Débile Menthol, but don't let that slow you down.

ReR are not dead, as far as I am aware.  I've not ordered from them myself though.  I am sure Assaf, can shed more light on this.

Send ReR and e-mail, I'm sure it can be sorted out.

I order from them a lot, and it seems they're rather lame - they never seem to ship until you remind them. The last time I sent a note with my order saying this, and asking them to please send ASAP as NOT per usual. They said it would be best if I inquired about their stock 1st. Anyway, I got that order, from overseas, in less than a week! Just remind them - mail from your personal mail accnt gets better response than messages sent within their contact system I found. You might try ordering from their USA partner - it's very fast and efficient [it's run by Dave Kerman of 5uus/Present/Ahvak drummer fame. He's a really nice and helpful guy.

I may not post that much, but I'm still lurking in the shadows of this thread.Ying Yang

I got a question. When are Boredoms going to be added? I really like their stuff (thanks yuko) very frantic, but oh so pompous.Big smile

Regards to the ones who talked about Eskaton on the previous page. 4 Vision is pure gold. And I have to listen to Koenjihyakkei more. Maybe I'll play it right now...

Any thoughts on John Zorn's Astronome?

When are Boredoms going to be added? Soon, I hope (a few more weeks/months maybe) - the problem is everybody on the team has a life outside PA as well. I have been rather busy with my studies lately... besides, Smegma are my top priority at the moment, when it comes to the RIO/Avant/Zeuhl team. Patience, my friend. Of course, if YOU would like to add Boredoms (write a bio, at the disco) then that's cool too.

I haven't heard Astronome yet. Embarrassed

Boredoms discography is quite large, I must say, that could take quite some time.

Oh, I have Astronome also, but have yet to listen.

To the ZAR fanatics:

Here is what I posted in the ZART thread in the collab zone today:

I received today (among others) an album by the French band Mosaic called Ultimatim. It is a re-release by the Israeli Mio records and I would like to propose it for our team.

It is fusion based, some zeuhlish fuzzy bass and drums, and a guitar roaring all over the place. It may also be suitable for fusion, but it has some distinct features of zeuhl/RIO.

From the booklet:
"Mosaic was formed by the Brebion brothers (Yves and Hubert) who were self-taught on their instruments: Yves on guitar and piano and Hubert on drums. During 1972-73 the band which had still no name played covers of Hendrix. Cream, Zappa, Grateful Dead etc, later moving on to King Crimson, Magma, Soft Machine, Gong and Hatfield and the North. The band formally started in 1974, when they were joined by Jean-Yves Escoffier on keyboards and guitars.... "
It goes on further and I have no force to copy it all, sorry. But I will use this as the bio.

Mosaic - Ultimatum (Plus. The Mio records reissue)

Anyone (besides Honganji who recently bought it) knows this?
