I dont know when emotion in music got all confused with the meaningless fad known as 'emo'

What honest music isnt emotional? Do people now live life devoid of emotion because they're scared to be considered emo?

Agreed.  The genre label is lame.

I'm won't go and say because they're awful, even though I think they are, but I really don't hear much progressive elements in their work, and neither do the moderators appearantly.

Well Damen, way to use a logical fallacy.  The moderators haven't said why they were deleted.

Obviously many people, the press, and the band themselves call them prog.

If you read through this thread, you might see many of the reasons yourself.  But if all you've heard are the two singles, you are in no way qualified to judge this band.

I have bolded a section with which I have a bone to pick. How are At The Drive-In emo at all? Because half of their outfit formed an emo band? The other half formed an expirimental rock group. Because of the lyric in One-Armed Scissor, "Cut away, cut away?" That would be taken completely out of context as a point. Their songs are metaphorical. Literally, they make no sense whatsoever. I see no way in which they are emo and call you to defend this position.

Beyond that, I agree with your posts about C+C. I happen to enjoy them as well, but rarely will I have a hankering for them. That doesn't make them not prog though.

I both agree and disagree.  A lot of the music was about relationships, which is why I call them emo, but their music is atypical of emo.

  Vocals alone don't define a band's genre!

The wikipedia, the first totally free online encyclopedia, where everyone is free to define anything ...

Only joking, I like their concept. But you shouldn't trust the wikipedia any more than the other top Google search results ...

HEAR HEAR! Put them back up for music's sake....................I love em but it ain't the point, get em back up there....it's nice to see a band pushing the prog button a bit that aren't just prog-metal or neo-prog

I can't remember what I said
I lost my head.

This is the sort of attitude we should all have - Even if something isn't your bag but it's of suitable genre then it should remain in the catergory it deserves to be placed in.  I personally really like them but even if I didn't I'd be with TP on this

P.S - highlight over this  and watch the face go nuts (if you're as bored as me!)

The music is progressive it's just the vocals that sound emo.
I apologise
I was angry at many things last night
I personally do not like them, but if more people do then the mods should put them back up.
Sorry

I had heard of this band, I thought they were emo, then i saw this post on the website and I went to their homepage... I listened to the free song and I can tell just by that one song from their new album that they ARENT EMO, its so obviously prog that if you think they're emo you obviously don't know what you're talking about.... pretty much every single website out there labels them as progressive rock..  so what if alot of emo kids listen to them?  Theres alot of stupid emo kids that listen to mars volta, it doesnt bother me because I know I like them for their music rather than liking them because of a fad.  Just like System of a Down fans, SOAD's music is very very intelligent and creative, yet most of their fans are retards.. It doesn't phase me, I just know that I like the band for their music/talent/lyrics, and not because other people want to like them to be cool.

Im at work right now, and I plan on getting one of their cds, I'm intrigued by the music

Man, they really need to put them back up there. Coheed and Cambria are so obviously prog that it embaresses me to think 90% of the people on this site are too ignorant to realise it.

I can't really blame them, though. Whoever is in charge probably just listens to the singles on the radio or MTV and assumes those songs give an accurate representation of their sound.

Sad times.

Sorry for reviving this yet again, but I just thought I'd share this with any fans or anyone else interested.

I've YSI'd a new studio recording off the new album, called "The Willing Well II: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness," from the 35 minute 'Willing Well' sequence at the end of the CD. It's really fantastic. It's about 7 minutes long. I think even people that hate them should at least give it a try.

I really, reallllly can't wait for the new album now.

EDIT:
Got it working again!
