In 21st Century Schizoid Man, I though he was saying "That's what I call, little children singing, c'mon". Real lyrics "Cat's foot, Iron claw, neurosurgeon scream for more"

Hello!
For some truly confusing reason, I used to think the first line on Riverside's `Second Life Syndrome' was : "I spill all my British wine...." when after a few years listening it dawned on me the (heavily accented!) singer was actually saying : "I spend all my precious time...." !! So the real question becomes - what the f**k was I thinking lol?! :) Perhap's looking through the CD booklet more than just the first time when I bought the album would have helped! ![]() |

of course "the chair is not my son"
but also "No he's not for offerin'" in Tom Sawyer instead of "No his mind is not for rent" "With the Guns of Mayhem Rolling around" in Supper's Ready instead of "With the Gaurds of Magog swarming around" |

My wife keeps instisting that on Yes's Awaken, instead of "Awaken Gentle Mass Touch" Anderson is singing "Awaken with a Mustache"... well, as a matter of fact she didn't really believe that's what they were saying, but she keeps saying it sounds like that. To be completley honest, "Awaken with a Mustache", even if it doesn't make much sense, at least it makes more sense than the real lyrics.

Dream Theater's Metropolis Part 1: "Life is the first dancing turtle!". There used to be a misheard lyrics video on Youtube with that, but I can't find it now...

There's a song by Richard Thompson that starts:
'Gillian she's a north country lass'
which I always hear as
'Jelly and Cheese, a north country lass'
which of course makes no sense at all.

I used to think it was "With the Gods of makeup swirling around." Also, "A distant sh*t smoke, on the horizon" - Comfortably Numb |

Peter Gabriel's "Sledgehammer" when he sings, "I wanna be your Sledgehammer", I thought it was "I wanna be your snake charmer"

Rush - Distant Early Warning
The final word of the song "Absolom" I misinterpreted as "lot's of love" and never understood it until much later.

Here’s one that I wouldn’t call worst, but at least interesting, and one that dates me terribly.
There’s a line in “Green River” by CCR that goes “Shoe fly, dragon fly, get back to your mother.” The latter syllables I thought sounded like “I’m in sixth grade tomorrow.” The single was released in the summer of 1969 and got a ton of play, and one day in particular I heard it was in early September. Guess what happened to me the next day? There are a couple misheard lines in “Lady Madonna” that actually kind of make sense: “Lady Madonna, baby at your breast, wonders how you’ll manage to pay the rent” and “Did you think that money was seven cents?” Edited by AreYouHuman - June 28 2014 at 23:40 |
