This is correct. As for the other recent guesses: Et Cetera, sadly no. Il Balletto, yup! So we now have: T***IG*N*** And do go ahead and make one, Alex. It'd be fun to be one of the ones guessing for a change. |

So we have:
Hold on, the numbers are wrong... 1. Taal 2. Shub-Niggurath (?) 3. no clue 4. no clue 5. Il Baletto di Bronzo 6. Gnidrolog 7. no clue 8. National Health - Squarer for Maud 9. no clue 10. no clue (sounds a bit like New Wave... sort of like Video-Aventures or Tuxedomoon - neither of who are in the 'chives) 11. sounds familiar... in fact I have it... but what is it?! (sounds a bit like Hellebore, Etron Fou Leloublan or something featuring Guigou Chenevier) |

In what way are those numbers different to what I said? Anyway, #2 isn't Shub-Niggurath, I'm afraid. #10 is definitely in the archives but I see where you're coming from with the New Wave comparisons. Are any of those names you dropped for #11 actual guesses? |

#7 is Anglagard, from the album Hybris.
And #11 is definitely Etron Fou Leloublan, one of my favourite songs on that album (Les poumons gonflés).
I'm lucky these 2 had not been mentioned as I don't know any of the other 9. Edited by mosni lamf - February 07 2009 at 11:38 |

Oops! The numbers were wrong when I first typed out my message and then I sorted them out (I only had 10) and then forgot to remove that line. And damn, it was Etron Fou! I don't think I'll get number 10... |

So if, as I suspect, Blowie, Memo and Mosni Lamf are right, we now have:
TENTIGAN**E Hmm... Gentle Giant It is Eskaton then. So what's 10? Hmm... Edited by James - February 07 2009 at 17:45 |

Great work, guys! It's all correct with the exception of memo's guess for #9. If you notice, James, there aren't 3 T's in Gentle Giant.
So what we're left with is: TENTIGAN**E A little basic deduction should mean you already know what letters #9 and 10 ought to be. That should hopefully help you identify them. #9 is pretty well-known round these parts. #10 are probably a little more obscure, but I'd be very surprised if I'm the only one who's heard of them here. They're listed in the archives, after all. |

Go ahead and post it Cap'n! It looks like no one's going to get them. James already sussed the final answer anyway.
For those who care, #9 was Goblin and #10 was Lard Free. I hope you all feel suitably ashamed. |

There you go. 8 letters this time. Articles do not count as the first letter of the band name and solo acts go by their first name. Good luck. |

No Flower Kings in this one. I imagine around half of these will get figured out relatively quickly based on the number of ratings the albums have.
