Yeah, the new one is like Aura on an Asylum wall mixed with Tartar Lamb.

I picked up Blue Lambency Downward yesterday and had a chance to listen to it in my headphones while laying in bed....just before drifting off to sleep.....this is the best way/time to listen to this album in my opinion.
regardless, this is outstanding! I especially like the long-form guitar solo on Symmetrical Arizona-- what a beautiful and emotive track....hell, they all are.
they have done it again, this album is nothing like the predecessors....I would not be surprised if some cried about the loss of "heavy" guitars. however, I think the more jazzy quality of everything suits the "ambient" feel better.
this may well turn out to be my #1 for the year.

Glad you like it!
4 stars for me, and the review will be coming soon if anyone is interested.
| Of course I liked it, its Kayo Dot!Looking forward to reading your review, will be getting started on reviewing KD myself when I think my vocabulary is up to it. |
Haha it does take some lofty words to describe their amazing, unique sound. BLD is certainly no exception.
Which tracks stand out for you thus far?
For me Right Hand Is The One I Want, The Awkward Windwheel, Clelia Walking, and of course Symmetrical Arizona stand out. |
BLD, Clelia Walking, The Awkward Windwheel and Symmetrical Arizona stand out as THE tracks of the album, though there are no bad songs here at all.

Blue Lambency Downward is pretty good so far, and it's still growing on me. I was disappointed at the lack of epics at first (besides the two 10+ minute tracks), but I've gotten past that.

Arrived, pillowcase and all. Damn, I'm actually looking forward to going to sleep!
As for the tracks, Blue Lambency Downward and Symmetrical Arizona are both perfect. In the middle, Right Hand and Awkward Wind Wheel are definitely the best.
Top 10 of the year, no question.

At first I was very unsure about BLD (titled track), but it has grown with time. I think it actually may be my favorite track, other than Right Hand (which for some reason I adore). The vocals are f**king perfect on this song.
Only thing I miss is the superior production that was present on the two former albums, and on "Don't Touch Dead Animals".
Also, since we're in the only Kayo Dot thread I'll ever need, I must shout:
Everyone: Go listen to Don't Touch Dead Animals! It's too good to pass up!
