I agree entirely with both segments of your post there. The debut is my least favorite (from debut to Missing Piece), but I still like it quite a bit. The only really good one (by Gentle Giant standards) in the first 3 is Acquiring the Taste, but I'd agree with you that their absolute golden streak was Octopus to Interview.

I freaking love all the tracks on Interview so much... it's just the perfect GG album for me. "TIMING!!!"

I think I did play some Merzbow. Oh wait, Iancu Dumistrescu's Pierres Sacrées - Harryphonies - Grand Ourse will have a similar affect.

I'm not sure if even I like Iancu Dumitrescu or Merzbow yet.
