I'm starting to view classic Genesis as the more "highbrow" spiritual cousin to Jethro Tull's thing going on, in that there is this "collision between tradition and modernity" concept running throughout the band's entire aesthetic project with a specific root in British cultural history. Just that Genesis were more classically influenced and cerebral in their sensibility whereas JT more folky and down-to-earth, likewise when they got heavy the end results were closer to Deep Purple whereas JT's harder songs are more Black Sabbath.

Does anyone else see this kind of dichotomy about the two bands being flipsides of each other?

A new post-rock supergroup I haven't seen anyone here talk about. The closest point of comparison is Russian Circles, with whom they share a member, filtered through a industrial rock/metal aesthetic in the vein of Godflesh or Killing Joke's heavier moments. Interesting take on both styles, that's for certain.

Danish hardcore punk band very similar in style to Swedish bands like Anti-Cimex, Disfear, Wolfbrigade and their ilk. It's really nice to see my country's HC scene enjoy some international popularity considering for how long it's languished in obscurity next to the Swedes.
