Jagatara - Gokutsubushi(LOVE that album)

Haven't been in a great mood today, so only four albums. The problem is, I have not enjoyed music in general very much. Disapprove

A.R. & Machines - Die Grüne Reise. I really like this. At times it reminds me of Ash Ra Tempel's debut album very much. However, sadly, this is less focused on sonics and does not have that "woooosh" that ART's first work has. There are some really nice acoustic passages and hypnotic, exotic workouts. Really nice!
Gong - Angel's Egg. I recieved a CD of this one as a present just yestarday and so I listened to this album today once again. I thought this was a really spacey experience. What really makes Gong's version of space rock different than others' is that lack of dark ambient depth. See me there? Anyway, it's a great album. Tim Blake is doing great work on synths and this time I was particularly blown away by Steve Hillage's guitar.
Guru Guru - Hinten. This is the logical bridge between UFO and Kanguru. Although, in my opinion, it does not live up to the greatness of these two, it's still a great album. All of the basic Guru Guru ingredients are there: tounge-in-cheek parts, heavy jams, atonal workouts, mumblings from behind the drumkit... A really, really nice album!
Between - And the Waters Opened. For some reason, I knew this album was great, but because of something in my mind I could not enjoy it at all... I could only appreciate elements about it. And the music on it is very well composed and very well played - that's for sure. I really liked the clarinet sound in the ambient scenario. The synthesizers are made great use of. I also smell some influences of eastern music through percussion instruments. I liked it! But, man, I'm a moody person and it's sort of a pity that it influences my listening to music.
Categories strain, crack and sometimes break, under their burden - step out of the space provided.

Vespero - Lique Mekwas (excellent album! Sounds like a cross between Santana, Ozric Tentacles and Here & Now)
Knifeworld - Bottled Out Of Eden
Angelo Branduardi - S/T
Diagonal - S/T
Bubu - Resplandor
Catapilla - S/T ( Michael, I've listened to it for the first time after a long time and it was much more enjoyable than I remembered, but I know what's bothering me about it, I'm not sure how to put it but there's that Jefferson Airplane/Janis Joplin RnB thing going on in a few spots which sounds a little dated. One more issue is the sound, although you know I don't have a problem with raw sounding albums, I even prefer it to polished sound, but here there are places that I don't find it appropriate, it is a bit unbalanced imo, especially the saxophones, the second album took care of that very well btw. Don't get me wrong because I really liked it, the instrumentals are all really good and the issues I've mentioned are not very big so I will definitely spin it again soon. Thanks for making me dig it out!

All good, Sagi! You know, I have literally been listening to that Catapilla album for the last 30 minutes at work, so great minds/telepathic link and all that! And I know exactly what you mean about the Joplin-esque screech, I'll finally be getting around to posting my review tonight for it and I do mention exactly that.

Mate, do you know that Black Sabbath album `The Eternal Idol' from the late 80's? If so, what's your opinion on it? I honestly don't find it much of stretch from the Dio-led albums, because the vocalist doesn't sound much different to him (although probably without his flare) at all. It's probably a little `anonymous' musically (in other words, it just sounds like a reliable metal band as opposed to being identifiable as Sabbath), but I don't think it's a bad album at all.

I was actually writing this as I was listening to last 5 minutes of the album so yeah I guess we were listening to it at the same time, something that the band members would never bet on ever happening

I haven't listened to 80s or 90s Sabbath for about 15 years I guess, I remember there's one album that sounded better than rest but I'm not sure which one. I'll check utube for a few minutes to see if something clicks.

Ha, the album just finished here 30 secodns ago, so that's pretty close.

I remember reading somewhere a long time ago that Floyd's `Dark Side of the Moon' has sold so many copies that it all but ensues there is constantly someone playing it somewhere in the world at all times. But that Catapilla album is this instance - that's the Brotherhood of Prog coming together!

No problem about that Sabbath album, mate, nothing important!

Oh man what a flashback! 80's rock/metal . It was fun checking out, once I've played it the melodies popped out from somewhere deep in my mind, that was cool.

Anyway the album I was referring to is Cross Purposes from 94' I can say I like about half of it, Dying For Love is one hell of a song off it. Do you by any chance know their Heaven & Hell 2009 album? Dio is singing on that one, and I must say I was really surprised of how good it is!

I know OF the `Heaven and Hell' album and it's good reputation, but I don't have it yet. I figured I'd get to it (and the comeback BS album `13') at some point eventually.

Awesome! What did you think of these? Smile

By the way, don't the vocals on Electric Citizen remind you of Curved Air?
I really enjoyed that Kl(aüs) album too, it's certainly inspired by TD's early 80's but I don't think they try too much to sound like it.

Sunday:
Sequentia Legenda - Blue Dream
Steven Wilson - The Raven... (Amazing surround mix, I really can't listen to it on stereo anymore LOL)

I'll be honest, Sam, I loved what I heard on all the Electric Citizen, Wo Fat and Miss Lava LP's, but my listens were all on Bandcamp! I'm putting in an order at Kozmik Artifactz on Wednesday for the vinyl copies of each of them as well as one more (it's a matter of either ordering one LP at a time, or the postage costs then jump to 2-4 records, so I might as well go the full four). But for sure the singer sounds like a tougher Kristina of Curved Air in parts!

The Black Bombain was good, a very reliable fuzzy guitar-heavy jam!

Yep, I think the Kl(aüs) album is pretty damn good. I think they could end up on the Archives pretty easily.

Great! I visited their website now, their selection is fantastic. If you can't think of a fourth LP, try Maserati's Rehumanizer Smile It's on my wishlist and I see that they have it.

Indeed! Repeated listens are very rewarding Thumbs Up

I'll give it another listen before suggesting them.
