^ No offence taken. Sometimes, I list artists alphabetically by their first names for the sake of convenience, such as "V" for Van Morrison on Prog Britannia Four. Smile

If "Far and Forgot" sounds like a forgotten album by The Enid, then it'll come as no surprise that Francis Lickerish is the guitarist with the band. There's Allsorts on this album. Tongue

Today's the day I finally get around to listening to Marillion's albums for the first time ever, but have no F.E.A.R, I won't be using the full title of their 2016 album either here or anywhere else. Wink

Marillion - He Knows You Know (from the album "Script for a Jester's Tear" (1983))

I'm very fond of Script, but that is how far I've got.

I don't want to make Cristi's cat jump off the desktop in shock horror, but I'm actually loving the sound of Marillion so far. Thumbs Up

I'm listening to Marillion's "Brave" (1994) allbum even as we speak - a 5-star masterpiece from the Hogarth era. By the way, up until now, I thought "the Hogarth era" referred to English painter William Hogarth. (1697-1764). Tongue

I could think the same if I knew William Hogarth, as I'm only very little familiar with Marillion's history. Star

As a measure of just how good Marillion are, their raw demo versions sound infinitely better than almost any modern pop music heard on the radio these days. Clap

I bet Cristi never thought he'd hear me singing Marillion's praises. Tongue

Cristi reads all the latest posts - including this one - but he's been busy in the Jazz Lounge tonight. Smile

I'm just over halfway through my Marillion marathon and  these are some of the things I didn't know about the band until now:-

1. I didn't know they were Scottish.
2. I didn't know Misplaced Childhood was their worst album.
3. I didn't know Fish had left the band.
4. I didn't know new singer Steve Hogarth likes to dress up in drag. Tongue

That's a funny one - even I can imagine, quite a lot of people won't find it funny.

But I guess, I know what you miss. Smile

Let me answer those for you, the cringe is big with your post. Ouch
1. They are not Scottish, only Fish was/is.
2. Misplaced is their worst album?! According to who(m)? You? Ok, still strange... no offense.
3. You didn't know Fish left? You said you're halfway through their work, you didn't realize there was a different singer starting their fifth album? Strange... to be honest, again, no offense.
4. I don't think he does though, he dressed specifically for the rendition of that song. They did some live shows doing also some covers. He also dresses in a fancy suit, very gentleman like when he sings Invisible Man, at least he did that when I saw them live. He probably did it all throughout that tour.

It's no surprise that my observations about Marillion made you cringe, so let me reply to your four points...

1. I didn't know Fish was the only Scottish member of the band, so I already learned something new this morning. Big smile
2. Yes, in reply to you and David, Misplaced Childhood is Marillion's worst album in my opinion, although some may disagree with me (or far more likely *EVERYONE* will disagree with me), but I only have four words to say about that immensely irritating album: "Lavender's blue, dilly dilly". Need I say more!? LOL
3. No, I didn't know Fish had left Marillion and I didn't know who Steve Hogarth was until just a few days ago. Embarrassed
4. I wasn't being entirely serious with Point #4. Tongue

I feel like you are trolling with me right now... Ouch

1. How can you not now Fish left when you listen to another vocalist on the fifth album. I don't understand how you made that observation above (trolling much?)
2. The "dilly dilly" ruins the whole album?! Confused WTF?! The second half is much stronger than the first, it's not an easy pop album, it demands and deserves some attention.
3. Again, makes no sense what you say there.
4. Well, I did explain what was happening there.
