More folky that one. Liked both a lot, but after first listen I think I prefer their debut. The first track on the debut, "Einsetumašur einu sinni", I really liked. Reminded me a lot of the Norwegian folk rock band Prudence, if you've heard anything by those guys.

Here's the track:
.
That was great. Cool, thanks!
You're welcome.

Oh, and BTW, your review of Žursabit was the reason I was looking for it when I was in Iceland, so thanks! Cost me just $8 each they did too, which was nice. Almost got hold of their third album as well, but the guy behind the counter at the record store told me the last copy they had had been sold just minutes before I asked him about it. But I guess two out of three ain't bad.

Anyway, now:

First listen.

Yes - Heaven and Earth (first listen). I'm confused by all the hubbub over this album. No it certainly isn't Close to the Edge, but it isn't Open Your Eyes either (the Yes nadir IMO). And it wasn't very likely that they were going to put out another Close to the Edge. For those who thought they were going to bust out with CTTE Part II, can I have some of what you're smoking? It's not as soft rock as I thought it was going to be either. Not the greatest album I've ever heard but also far from the worst.
I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

I didn't hear the whole album, but I was expecting something just a little better than Fly From Here (which I really just didn't like). I tried to give it a fair chance, but I can't get the image out of my head of old croaks with arthritis butchering parts and telling Jon Davison to singer softer because their hearing aids are feedbacking.

It was definitely softer than I'm used to with Yes, but not so soft that it gets that "music for the afterlife" status. I actually quite liked Fly From Here and this is a step down I'd say, but it's not THAT bad. In fact, I'd put their last two albums against the last two they did with Jon (the real Jon). The Ladder and Magnification I thought sounded a little stale, although still with some impressive tunage on both. Fly From Here was the sequel to Drama I've been waiting for since I first heard the latter in 1984.

First Happy Sad, now Blue Afternoon, next Lorca.
