Here's a potential A-Z list with no English-speaking countries. I would have liked to have 26 different countries, but alas, that was hard to do and I don't think I've listened to music from that many countries.

Alco Frisbass (France)
Beardfish (Sweden)
Cheeto's Magazine (Spain)
Devil Doll (Slovenia/Italy)
East (Hungary)
Finch (Netherlands)
Le Grand Sbam (France)
Happy Family (Japan)
Iconoclasta (Mexico)
Jordsjø (Norway)
Koenjihyakkei (Japan)
Logos (Italy)
Mangrove (Netherlands)
Nexus (Argentina)
Le Orme (Italy)
Present (Belgium)
Quella Vecchia Locanda (Italy)
Ring van Möbius (Norway)
Schnellertollermeier (Switzerland)
Traumhaus (Germany)
Už Jsme Doma (Czech Republic)
Versus X (Germany)
Windom End (Sweden)
Xang (France)
Yôkaï (Belgium)
Zaragon (Denmark)

^ That's a nice list. Devil Doll, Finch, Iconoclasta and Zaragon are all favourites of mine too, and Le Orme and Quella Vecchia Locanda are both coming up in a future Italian prog special. Thumbs Up

These are one act per letter from around the world curated from my polls of personal favourites based on which one for each letter I would feel most in the mood to play right now. By the way, while I was pleased to delve into lots that I like, I do much prefer this topic to my series. It gives everybody an easy way to list favourites, or a favourite, for every letter (better than a poll methinks to get an overview of everyone's tastes).

Not all of my choices below are in PA (Boards of Canada, Fishmans, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Xiu Xiu). I could have gone with all that are of course, but all of these are applicable to me for this site. Too lazy to want to try to get everything, or most, in that I think applicable by suggesting and then adding if accepted.

Art Zoyd
Boards of Canada
Cardiacs
Dead Can Dance
Eskaton
Fishmans
Godspeed You! Black Emperor
Hammill, Peter
Incredible String Band, The
Jan Dukes de Grey
Kayo Dot
Leprino, Franco
Magma
North Sea Radio Orchestra
Oneohtrix Point Never
Pink Floyd
Quicksilver Messenger Service
Radiohead
Swans
Tangerine Dream
Univers Zéro
Van der Graaf Ganerator
Wyatt, Robert
Xiu Xiu
Yatha Sidhra
Zao

^ There's a few favourites of mine to choose from on your list too:- Pink Floyd (obviously); Dead Can Dance (including all of Lisa Gerrard's many solo albums); Tangerine Dream (also including most of their solo works too); Radiohead (for The Bends & OK Computer); Quicksilver Messenger Service (who I'd love to see here on PA one day); Yatha Sidhra; and Van der Graaf Generator (but only for their first three albums). Smile

It is indeed a joke and apparently attributed to a jester.
