So the big news yesterday was that the Buccos traded Chavez for the Rays Iwamura. Must have been a really slow day for the hot stove league.

Sorry for not getting here instantly. Had to go harass all the belligerent Phillies "fans" that were around here yelling. Phillies played well, gave us a run for the money but in the end... Number TWENTY SEVEN! Glad to see Mo get another one, and especially Jeter. No one deserves it more

Get em JJ! Congrats to the Yanks! WOO!
|
To be fair. I didnt start anything. Others were running around yelling F*CK THE YANKEES! I just struck back! And out here is Pittsburgh country. I guesstimate half these people are bandwagoners or just Yankee haters. One more time. Phillies played well, gave me a scare when they took game 5. But Yanks just played better. Charlie Manuel seems like a true class act, guy acted how a Champion should go out. New York Yankees championship number TWENTY SEVEN

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Been a tough 9 years (can't believe I was only 16 when they last won), what with having to watch those #$%^ing *&^%#$%^ers in boston get to celebrate twice, but it's great to see the World Series title back where it belongs.
been a good year for me sports wise

Yawn Yankees....
But my team has only itself to blame...ugliest implosion I've ever seen.

You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.

You're bitching about 9 years?? I'm a Cubs fan. Try waiting 100 years.Sheesh!
Congrats to the geniuses in NY for spending like a trillion dollars on the team and winning.
Baseball is f**ked up. Too long of seasons.November 4th is when it ends?? In a few years it will stretch to Thanksgiving! Pitchers and Catchers will be reporting in 11 weeks.!!? . Selig has really destroyed Baseball.
I'm done with it.

I was waiting for someone to use the whole "Yankees buying a team" thing. I dont like it either, but that's how it is. You guys know if ANY other team had the same resources they'd do exactly the same thing.
Besides f*ck yall. The Yanks core has been intact for years, and they developed quite a few of their players. CC, AJ, and Mark were just the final pieces to the puzzle. Not to mention all the lower name players they grabbed. Yanks finally built a TEAM this season.

Did they not also renew A-Rod's contract for a sum greater than most countries' gross national product? The thing that is most strange about it though is that the Mets, Jets, Knicks, Rangers, and Islanders all have a shot at the same financial resources and advantages, but they all suck. The Giants are the only other New York team that is competitive, but they really don't go out and buy the best players either.

Hey man I don't like it. I wish it wasn't that way....but it is. And like I said the Phillies or ANY team would do the same with the same resources. But really you think I like the fact A-Rod makes more than some countries? It's not just the financial advantage though, you have to build a team and not just a bunch of players. I think that is the problem with those teams (and the Yanks until last year). Thankfully the NFL has the salary cap so a large market team like the Giants can't go and buy every big name player. Not that it would be effective, (cowboys)

I hate to say it because I am all for free market, but I would really like to see a salary cap in baseball. They did it in Hockey, and now the Red Wings, who used to be the Yankees of the NHL, have been brought back to the pack. They can no longer go out and buy the best players available like they used to before the cap.

False. Back when Wedge was with the Indians he would have bought a team full of prospects then trade away the good ones.

I'd like to point out that they have a salary cap in basketball and only 2-3 teams have a shot at the title each year, and they are the same 2-3 teams every year

EH. I was about to go on about how I do like the idea of a salary cap, but until then we have this system...most other teams would do the same....yadda yada
I don't really care. I'm just going to say this: Jeter, Posada, Pettitte, Mo veteran yankees (Andy had that brief stint with Texas but fine) Matsui the MVP....Yankee his entire career. Cano, Cabrera, Gardner, Coke, and Hughes all brought up through the Yankees farm system. Aceves was NO big name player. Marte and Nady were acquired with minor league players, Harriston and Hinske were no big name players, acquired by the Yanks for very little. Swisher was traded for a utility man.
I've made the point. The Yanks core has been intact for years, many of their players have been developed or acquired with out the BUY BUY BUY method. Sure there's A-Rod, Damon, and for 09 CC, AJ and Mark. But lets not say its ALL the team....we all love money. But a player still has the choice.
CC LOVED cleveland and was honestly upset about leaving. (Took out a full page ad in the paper thanking the city and fans). Why do it then? Because who could turn down $130 million? I could! I think he was making enough already..... And besides player greed and the need for more money, anything think good players would still go the Yanks for the historical factors? And players who enjoy the history of the game are ones you want. Done
