Later, Mike.

This album seriously is great.

I'm not sure if Pat's heard it yet... I need their follow-up though.

*James must make a Wayside and/or ReR order soon*

You've missed two Rush albums in that time.

Really? Awesome.

What did you think?

A brief summary:

I still cannot cope with the vocals and the lyrics, so much of it washes over me.

The music is pretty good.  Book I is better than Book II though and I agree with David on this.  In fact, I may just prefer AFtK to Hemispheres right now.

That's understandable.

I like Book II more, but I love them both.

Book II doesn't do much until well over half-way.  Book I is more interesting throughout.

Understandable. It's just preference for me, but I can definitely see how you'd think that.

It's absolutely criminal how very few people have heard this amazing track by Salle Gaveau.

It's one of the most beautiful pieces of instrumental music I have ever heard.

Wow.

Just wow.

Mahavishnu Orchestra and their ilk are amazing!

So what's the deal, I leave and conversation dies? - I just finished my review, but I'm putting off the dishes for a while still. Going to finish this Billy Cobham album

I'll be listening to Birds Of Fire as soon as Spectrum ends. That should be a good way to ease the pain of doing the dishes.

Really? I'm having a blast with it right now! I can't believe I never went in to the "jazz" section of record stores before

I haven't heard KTU.

It's Accordion, Acoustic and Electric Guitar (in a fusion style sometimes but it also reminds of me Steve Howe... or rather Yes... weird I know) and violin.  Plus Contrabass.  Oops, forgot the piano!

The violin playing is also amazing.

A lot of the album sounds like chamber music and one track sounds like a classical piece (all acoustic).

Check out some YouTube clips.

There's also enough innovation to keep the album interesting too.

I need their second release though.

I forgive you, of course. But you have to be willing to forgive me for not being able to get into "Moonbabies" by Planet X. Wink

Of course, it's been a while. I should replay it - it may have grown on me.

Same. I listened to Heavy Weather a few times and it didn't do much for me.

I like Weather Report, but RTF and Mahavishnu are easily superior in my opinion.

Yep, that's the one I have.

It's got that well known track on too... not bad but it sounds dated now.
