Happy New Year Guys!! Hopefully it will be a lot better than 2005.

I had a party back at my place. And now I am left here with tons of food and no idea what to do with it. But the party was kinda fun. I met a guy who`s a guitar freak like me. We had a little chat about Petrucci, Vai, Striani, Gilbert, Friedman, Liefson, Malmsteen, Impelliteri, Stanley Jordan....

... this guy simply couldn`t understand Petrucci is better than Vai

The food problem is solved, I thought - maybe you should feed the ducks in the park pond with it

yet you still have time!

Happy New Year, RT!

Wolf, Ed - So glad we agree. Here are a few guitarists apart from Vai, that, in your opinion, are better than Petrucci

Greg Howe

Ron Jarzombek

Mattias IA Eklundh

Bumblefoot (Ron Thal)

Prashant Aswani

You can listen to some samples from them here:

http://www.guitar9.com

Just throw them into the search engine and klick on the CD covers.

EDIT: Typo fixed.

Again, happy we agree that Jarzombek pwns Petrucci, just as Carey pwns Portnoy!

Higher than Jarzombek for sure! Maybe they're not that technically brilliant but at least they know how to create awesome melodies!

Seriously now Ed, listen to the Jarzombek solo CD, also on that page, that guy is nuts!!! I agree that Allman and Wehrkamp create better melodies, though.

I own some stuff by Spastic Ink and Watchtower... And that guy can ceate some technically blistering chaos... But IMO a good guitarist should be a both technically brilliant and be a good melodic composer!

And you're right... but Jarzombek can create enchanting melodies - the solo at the end of "Rivers Dancing", anyone?

This post appears and disappears from time to time. Finally, I got curious and, well, it is nice to see that cover art has it's place on the forums.

TOOL is probably the worst band to ever walk the face of earth.
