How hard is it to get past your head that someone else doesn't like something that you do? Why do you have to insinuate superior tastes above everyone else all of the time just because they don't like something that you do?

This is REALLY starting to drive me nuts around here. I don't like VDGG and I'm constantly asked about it, whereas everyone jumps on the DT bandwagon and anybody who likes them is a childish fanboy.

Can't we just enjoy music and not completely bash each other all the time, even if it is subtle?

Now, not liking Hammill's voice, well, it's a challenging voice. I suppose people don't like it for the same reason I find Angherr Shisspa a bit tedious... it's about the details. Saying the music is bland... well, personal opinion, and it took me a long time to really get VDGG from a musical perspective... still not sure I fully have.

But about the lyrics... oh lordy...

Just saw Alex's post above, so crossed out muchly.

Still, the lyrics comments are quite frustrating for me as a whiny pseudo-poet/poet-analyser. It's a bit like someone saying Petrucci is a bad guitarist. It's simply not true. People are free to not like Petrucci's style, but they have to admit he knows how to play. Ditto with lyrics... if you don't like Hammill's lyrical style/content, fine, but it is simply not (at least with VDGG, a couple of his later solo albums are shaky) bad if you have any idea about poetry/scansion/prosody etc... .

I won't send you anything... there's no way you'd want my Coheed and Cambria album.   That's a tough one to get rid of.
