I'm partial to Mingus and Monk, but I like Miles a lot too.

Don't get me wrong, I like Miles, and I absolutely love Bitches Brew... I just prefer many other jazz artists first (including Mingus and Monk).

I think I like McLaughlin's playing on Bitches Brew better than on anything else I've heard him on.

Miles did make one of my favorite jazz albums, though, Sketches of Spain.  I rate it higher than Kind of Blue, higher than any of his jazz rock stuff.

It was actually a hundred reviews ago that I said I was going to give an album five stars that was not progressive rock.  This was it.

Most of the time it matters to me (for the purposes of this site) if an album is prog or not.  This, however, gets a big ass pass.

To be fair, it is Miles Davis.
By the way, your review is great, Rob.

Thanks.

Took a lot of time to write, and my two-year-old blew the chunks all over my wife as I was editing tonight.  So if you see a spelling error, kiss my ass.

Ah, so far I haven't seen any mistakes.

Also, it's been years since I've seen a child puke all over someone.

I think I did find a typo though, in line-up/musicians list, there is a "Julian Addlerley" listed.

It was explosive and white and disgusting; I cleaned it up out of the carpet myself.
