  • If I remember correctly I was told that the "New Band Addition Procedure" submissions list is not being reviewed right now so they can go review the old  list of  bands suggested.
  • If that is the case ,why was a new procedure put in place.
  • Shouldnt you start with the new bands?, it would be "less work" for the team ,and it make new bands be added to the archives quicker.
  • It should be that you require the bands previously suggested on the old list to be re-submitted under the new guidelines.
  • as I see it submitting a band under the new procedure ,us writing* the bands bio, discography, members, genre, picture, country, www, and mp3,would make it faster more efficient and better, and in turn make the bands be added much sooner.

Just a small note to the side:

I was listening to Chain's "Chain.exe" album today and that seems like pure (neo) prog metal to me (instead of the Art Rock genre it's tagged with now)

Oh and another note about one of the Non-Archives bands. I just saw that Vintersorg is genreless at the moment. Based on their music (as far as I can tell, only have Focusing Blur album) I'd say it is symphonic prog metal. The music is really much like avant garde and highly experimental. There are grunt vocals from time to time and they have some parts similar with Arcturus (who are in the "Extreme" subgenre), but Vintersorgs music in general has a much positiver vibe coming through

Definitely Gothic rather than Dark, considering some of their middle period stuff. They've come out with a couple of cracking records, though.

What about adding Into Eternity for the extreme category.
If anyone knows where I can get a copy of some Flute and Voice (Indo-Prog/Raga Rock) albums please PM me! Many thanks!

I don't entirely agree with that diagram.  Prog metal is as much a sub-genre of prog as it is a sub genre of metal.  It's a combination of both.  Prog metal bands were both influenced by metal and prog (and sometimes even those old bands dabbled in both metal and prog, King Crimson anyone?)

You should use Venn diagrams that overlap because genres often overlap, especially metal and prog.

Yeah,I missed that.Chain never should have been tagged as Art Rock.I have Chain.exe and Reconstruct and they are definitely prog metal. And I do agree with the neo prog metal classification

I also feel that the ProgMetal genre should be narrowed down to be more specific.

I also have Prog Genre suggestions too:

Psychedelic Rock

Avant Garde/Experimental

Space/Cosmic Rock

Electronic/Ambient Prog

Proto-Prog

Post Progressive

Neo Progressive

Prog Folk

Prog Related/Light Prog

Prog Elements/Moments

Italian Symphonic Prog

Krautrock

Symphonic Prog

Progressive Metal (with narrowed down genres)

Proto Prog Metal (^^ part of the narrowed down ProgMetal)

Art Rock

Indo/Raga Prog

Zeuhl

RIO

Cantabury Scene

That's all I can think of top on my head!!

What you think, good possible genres??

I believe that they're more Folk than Metal, and should be listed in the Folk/Ethno prog categories.

Progman:

Your list looks nice ... why don't you create a new thread - and add 2-3 key bands to your genres. You're onto something there ...
