They don't really bother me, but I realize that they're quite terrible, as far as harsh vocals go.  I prefer to think of them as very manly rap vocals, instead of harsh vocals.  He also seems to throw them in just to show his "metal" voice off when they don't actually fit in the song.  They're kind of funny, actually.

Anyway, to the original topic, I love:

Rush
maudlin of the Well
Iona
Yes
The Mars Volta
Genesis
Van Der Graaf Generator
Stevie Ray Vaughan
Coldplay...

...and One Direction.  *not really*  *kidding*  *sarcasm*

I both love, and hate, Yes!!  I mean, how can the same band issue The Yes Album, CTTE, Big Generator, and Union??

I expect prog perfection, all the time, nothing less!

I like the colorization.  Thanks.

I also like the ones you mentioned (though never heard Vangelis), I just listed some more popular bands that some people dont like.

Check out my reviews on Vangelis.  He is my absolute favorite, but most of the Prog community does not share the same degree of appreciation.  His body of work is quite diverse.  If you have seen Blade Runner, Chariots of Fire, 1492 Conquest of Paradise, or Alexander, then you have heard his music.

I just listed some other bands & artists I really like, but most of those I added are not that controversial.  This is, after all, a hippy-dippy Heart thread.  Hug

I love Hackett, Rutherford, Brand X and Phillips but I hate Genesis. Where am I wrong?
Is it because I'm indifferent to Gabriel and I hate Collins?

Well, I love Gammon and Haggis, too but I can't stand Fish and Chips
I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

Queen's Hot Space. It's far not that awful as everyone loves to describe it. The only really weak point in this album is its production which is really poor for Queen's standards. But the songs themselves are mostly very good and interesting, and much better than stuff from their following The Works and A Kind of Magic (which, with good overall production, are very boring).

Sure... post a one star review.  I, personally, am more on the love and appreciation side of things, so if I post a one star review (which doesn't happen very often), hate isn't really the right word, more like saying I wouldn't listen to the album nearly as often as many others.

Out of my top four favorite bands/ artists, probably only one - Mike Oldfield - is well-received on this site. The others are Faust, Slapp Happy, and Deerhoof.

I also like 90125, partly because it's hilarious and it's also pretty clever at times.

I absolutely love Kansas, Van der Graaf Generator, Focus, Big Big Train, Pink Floyd, and Godspeed You! Black Emperor.

I'm not really fond of Porcupine Tree.  I also can't make myself like most neo-prog, try as I might.  I guess it's just not the subgenre for me, though there are a few neo-prog artists I enjoy.

-Hank Williams Sr.
-Django Reinhardt

Right now I'm hating:

-Rush
-Many modern groups
-John Petrucci, specifically
-Power Metal
-Atheists (not musically related, not really)
-Kanye West
-Television (not the musical group)
-Most Fantasy fiction
-Opeth's Harvest
-Anything by Iron Maiden after 1984 or so.
-Porcupine Tree/Steve Wilson
