I think I have to choose Neil Peart as my favorite rock drummer of all time and Joe Morello as my favorite jazz drummer of all time (I haven't heard as many jazz drummers as I have rock drummers, I have to say).

Mike Portnoy (pffft)
Mark Zonder (Fates Warning)
Jason Rullo (Symphony X)
Thomas Lejon (Andromeda) <<<<<< This guy is f**king incredible! And hugely underated/unknown.
Neil Peart (come on...)
Not familiar with enough of his stuff, but since this isn't a 'top five' thread, I'm gonna throw Mike Mangini on my list too. The fact he's in Dream Theater gives him a free pass into list of favourite drummers.

I wonder how many PA members decided to proclaim Peart as their favourite drummer just to piss the baldies off

I can't do a top twenty , and don't have the mindset to do a top ten but here's some I really like.
Bill Bruford, Niel Peart, Mike Portnoy, Carl Palmer, Mitch Mitchell, Brian Downey ( thin lizzy, a very under-rated drummer). Brian Dunn, Roger Taylor, the dude from tool, the dude from porcupine tree, the guys who have played for the mars volta, Nicko McBrain, Clive Burr, Clive Bunker, Marko Minnemann.

Damn I forgot Kieth Moon, John Bonham and Dave Gorhl ( I don't care for nirvana but love the stuff he's done in queens of the stone age and them crooked vultures.) Oh and the guy from the black keys.

I saw Dave Grohl live with Them Crooked Vultures and was thoroughly impressed. I always knew he was good (Nirvana, QOTSA) but man, did he wail. It always helps when you've got John Paul Jones as the other half of the rhythm section too. Don't care for the songs too much, but they executed them perfectly.
