I hope it's not only male keyboard players that need to be mentioned in this thread. Miquette Giraudy is a French synthesiser-player and vocalist, best known for her work with Gong and the backing band of her long-term partner, Steve Hillage.
The music that Giraudy and Hillage are performing in this footage from 2014 is very special; it is called Deep Underwater Glissando Exploration; their spacey musical journey was based on Hillage's 1978 album "Green." They then take the listeners on a voyage aboard the Ether Ships to the surreal Mirror Beach, from which they then turn on their Mirror System to create rhythms that are more danceable yet still cosmic.

Thanks for reminding me of Rick van der Linden. You know what? I think this will be better off as a separate topic.

I don't know why he's constantly overlooked, but everyone should know him.

Sometimes, excellent prog music is played by musicians whose primary instrument  is NOT the keyboard!!

Examples include:

a)  Robert Fripp - He seems to be very skilled at the keys, having played electric piano, synth etc. on King Crimson albums, solo works (Fripp & Summers etc.), etc.

b)  Jon Anderson - I saw Anderson's solo "Voice of Yes" show years ago, and he treated us to a rather amazing version of "The Revealing Science of God" on solo piano/keyboard!   I never saw Yes perform that one live, so it was special.

c)  Brian Eno - no one would likely confuse Eno with a maestro pianist, but he comes up with some amazing keyboard parts!!

d)  Peter Banks - Peter liked to throw some tasty little synth accents to his albums!!

Whom do you like as well?  Think outside of the box!!

^ Niklas Berg Anekdoten's guitarist : Mellotron expert, piano, Synths
^ John Paul Jones : Led Zeppelin's multi instrumentist : Keyboards
^ Ed Wynn Ozric's Guitarist : Synths and sequencers
^ Geddy Lee Rush's bass player : Synths
^ Rinus Gerritsen : Golden Earing bass player : organ, synths (not a virtuoso but an effective keyboard player, examples: LPs Together, Moontan)

Thanks, that's what I've been seeking!!  JPJ is especially tasteful!

I also like Gong's Steffei Sharpstrings, he is very good with synth!!

Career "shredder" Tony MacAlpine can deal the pain on keyboard as well as guitar. On his old albums, there's a drummer but every other instrument was usually played by MacAlpine. His post-Shrapnel years have seen him perform as a member of C.A.B. and Simon Phillips' fusion outfit Protocol!

Another important keyboardist from Eastern Europe that should be mentioned is the Serb Kornelije Kovač, leader of the Korni Grupa, aka Kornelyans. He was a classically trained composer and pianist. His Hammond organ can be heard on this amazing live version of the Korni Grupa's 20-minute-long progressive rock song from 1970. Kovač died in 2022.

Matthew Fisher of Procol Harum has been mentioned but didn't Gary Brooker also play keyboards?

I will also add Peter "Memory" Banks of After The Fire.

And Manfred Mann

Iain Jennings and Ann Marie Helder both played/play keyboards with Mostly Autumn

Hi

The two guys from Greenslade ...

And David Lawson went on to also do some producing and help with some bands ... Stackridge being one of them.

Both Dave's are/were excellent.
