I think if it hadn't been written so early in their career, when they were still trying to figure out how to write extended length suites and songs, it would have been a lot better. As it is, it has a lot of really stellar moments and fantastic pieces, but they're held together with duct tape and glue. 2112 and Hems are just smoother compositions, even though Hems at least lacks a moment as cathartic as No One At The Bridge.

Porg for short. My love of music doesn't end with prog! Feel free to discuss all sorts of music with me. Odds are I'll give it a chance if I haven't already! :)

Echoes.
Meddle (for me) was the album that triggered a life-long obsession with the Floyd, and an interest in prog in general. |

Close to the Edge A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers Nine Feet Underground And since I voted, 'A Plague...' is now in first place!

"Revealing Science of God" is my choice. It is the only one of these that changed my life when I heard it.

There are at least 15 I could vote for... Limiting it to five becomes thus a bit arbitrary. An attempt: Gates of Delirium Close to the Edge A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers Karn Evil 9 Dogs
Those vinyl days were much healthier for us human beings: much more exercise! |

Bunch of good ones. Here is a top five:
1) Close to the Edge 2) Suppers Ready 3) Gates of Delirium 4) Karn Evil 9 5) Tarkus A modern one that would have fit in the day of vinyl, that I am a big fan of would be Big Big Train's Underfall Yard. |
