Does "post-70s" mean bands who released their first album after 1979, or bands who were not active at all before 1980?

I was debating it too, I figured 1 LP and 2 EPs should be enough to include them.

This is challenging.  I'm only including bands whose entire output is post 1970s...it's still challenging.  Alphabetically then:

Albion
Collage/Satellite/Believe (cheating a bit)
Corde Oblique
Decemberists
Midlake
Nightwish
Poor Genetic Material
Sangre de Muerdago

Ignoring Paul’s scoring for the moment, there are a few bands showing up on more than list (and, because I’m ignoring the scoring, I have included all the honourable mentions). The results are perhaps not so surprising. If all the bands with only one mention are removed, this is what is left:

1. Porcupine Tree (8 mentions)
2=. Anekdoten (6 mentions)
2=. Big Big Train
4. IQ (5 mentions)
5=.Koenji Hyakkei (4 mentions)
5=. Present
5=. Wobbler

8=. 5uu’s (3 mentions)
8=. Änglagård
8=. Beardfish
8=. Cardiacs
8=. Dream Theater
8=. Izz
8=. Marillion
8=. Neal Morse
8=. Riverside
8=. Spock’s Beard
8=. The Tangent
8=. Thinking Plague
8=. Transatlantic

21=. After Crying (2 mentions)
21=. Cheer-Accident
21=. Deluge Grander
21=. Echolyn
21=. The Flower Kings
21=. Frost*
21=. Magenta
21=. Miriodor
21=. Pallas
21=. Solstice
21=. Talk Talk

(Quick edit to take in to account the three posts following this one.)
