If you are up to disocvering (more) obscure prog bands and you like Pink Floyd, check out Russian band Aton Five and Italian band Karmamoi.

I had never heard of Karmamoi, I got the new album as a promo, it took me a while to get into the a bit dark music (reminding me of early Roger Waters solo), but then I was blown away! I am going to check out Daylight Dies and Cog, thanks.

In my situation it's often that I get promo CD's (from Background Magazine, the oldest Dutch prog source), that is the way I discovered Karmamoi, The Far Meadow, Mellotron drenched Jordsjo and the exciting Andrew Roussak. Another recommendation is Progstreaming, that is the way I discovered Aton Five, Giant The Vine, and Italian Protoconcello C, great Hammond and guitar sound. Encircled is another interesting band that I discovered but is (still) not on pA.

I listened to a little bit of Andrew Roussak's latest on youtube but didn't like the fact that there didn't seem to be any low end(ie bass)on the album.
I have occasionally l heard bands on aural moon(prog rock internet radio station)that aren't on here. With the way new bands are always popping up it can be a difficult chore to get everyone on here.

With Olivier, at the fantastic record shop Cosmos Music (France). I also read Prog-résiste, Big Bang Magazine and Koid9. And sometimes, I discover unknown bands with the samplers of these magazines. And not often, browsing Internet or YouTube. |

Regarding sources, here are a couple:
Facebook - The PROG Mind Spotify, lots of public prog playlists, I find a lot of artists from the playlists of others (although over time finding gems I haven't already discovered is getting harder). Also Spotify discovery weekly (curated based on my playlists) Reading this site and progressiveears Svetonio's discovery thread on progforums https://www.progforums.com/punforum/viewtopic.php?id=1063&p=187 This blogspot is probably the best for new prog music: https://newprogreleases.blogspot.com/ Myself and couple of others (mostly PhideauxFan) will post in this thread occasionally some music recently discovered and like. Here is one I discovered on the weekend, Polish band Yesternight with some nice sounding neo-prog |

Yes I do but mainly among prog fans in certain age groups. On here not so much though. Compared to Pink Floyd and Rush absolutely Yes are under rated over all(not just in prog circles). It's relative though and to some extent depends on the demographic. Most younger folks getting into prog these days are probably going to dig into Tool, Dream Theater, Riverside, Opeth, prog metal in general, King Crimson, the aforementioned PF and Rush before Yes though. This is based on what I have observed online over the past several years as far as what people are saying in forums, fb groups etc. Not that Yes are unknown they just maybe sound dated to a lot of younger folks or something or maybe are not considered cool. Not sure. I don't find that to be the case on this site so much for whatever reason though.

Prog metal band from Norway, Leprous, have released a single Distant Bells from their upcoming album. This one is a melancholy slow burn then gets some nice tempo going at the 3/4 mark. Will be a good album if this song is an indication.

video unavailable, but that's fine. Leprous obscure?! I giggled at that. They're one of the well known progressive metal bands in recent years. Everyone into metal and prog-metal know at least who they are and what they play. Some metalheads are upset thy've softened their sound. It's rather funny to see them complain.

I like Birth Control too, despite their dreadfully tasteless album covers.

I enjoy many of the bands on that list, especially the more ambient, post-metal ones. I would recommend the bands Comus and Bachdennkel. Comus is a 70's folk prog band, they are absolutely demonic and beautiful without being anything like metal. Bachdenkel is a psychedelic rock band from the 70's with a gloomy yet somewhat hopeful and uplifting sound.
