I like Season 8 (Mulderless) but 9 was a terrible attempt at a reboot. Chris Carter wanted to end the series after season 5. But Fox was all hurr durr we make money!

If you can view 8 as a shift of roles, it works. Dogget became the Scully and Scully became the Mulder.
