I think post-rock and post-metal works better live.  Most dull music does.

Yeah it was good.

It felt really long for 35 minutes though. Too many tracks for such a short album.

I always listen to it as if it's one piece but I can understand that.

I liked how live it sounds though. Hipster production cred.

I shall d/load that one though.

The rest of the album is pretty varied although there are other moments like that.

If you review it I will love you forever. Big smile

Wut why?  A friend's band or something?

It's like Aaron Turner said (to paraphrase) Post Rock is just always mellow. Even though it builds often too much may get dull, or have variation but many don't seem to. I'll try them though for sure. Especially if it's varied.

It deff would be better James but I still love it here by myself. I would kill to see Godspeed live, the power must be f**kin intense. Or Isis but they broked up :(

The only post-metal band I like is Bossk and they're defunct now.  I did see them live though (sort of).  They actually played in my local but I only saw half of the gig.

I made friends with the band members after they noticed me listening to their work. I had no idea how underground they were at the time. But I've been keeping tabs with them, their great guys and they even let me name some songs for them since I helped promote their music.

I would love to see Godspeed live too. :(

Also post rock would be great live since you can crank the volume up and its ok because it just would feel like your drowning anyway!
I hate when some bands have the volume way too loud and can't really hear it well. I want the music! If I wanted to just hear noise than there's merzbow!

That was Agalloch's problem. First, the venue had bad sound but also way too loud. With a band that has finesse and subtlety like that it was rough to just hear wall of noise.

Unfortunately that happens a lot at gigs.  Especially in small venues.

Usually it's the vocals I cannot hear and often the drums are too loud.

There's one decent venue in this town that always has good metal bands on but the sound techs always just turn it up too far and it's just a noisy mess. Also the problem is the drummers who take huge kits to relatively small venues, gah stupidity.

ew

Also Agalloch was the loudest concert my brother has been to, including Overkill and Motorhead!
I was deaf that night..and had ringing for 3 days. My ears hurt more than after being at a NASCAR race (it was for free k) without earplugs!

The lloch f**kin raped my head

You hit it James and Mark. The venue was WAY too small for that volume. And indeed, John's vocals were a distant noise and the drums pulverized. Which was cool for a bit...

I dont usually do the stolen thing, because everything has been doneLOL  Really sucks when you have something cool just to here "nah bro (x) has that riff"

The intro does sound a lot like "Limbs" though.
Oh im such a nerd

Haven't heard Bossk. This is pretty tasty, though a little generic. Though you can't really complain about generic in Post anything.

That be exactly why I don't want to much! Even post metal...very few are innovative and different sounding after a while.

Limbs was what I was thinking of indeed. LOL

The rest of the tune sounds nothing like them though.

I definitely listened to way too much when I first got into Post Rock. I downloaded most of Alex's free post- thread lol.

Much like most post-anything bands, I prefer the heavy parts.  So I'm now enjoying it more 'cause they've cranked it up a bit.

Still generic but not in the same way as some other post-metal bands are.
